septum piercing?

may be getting one as a christmas present so i've been prepping a lot, to say the least... watching piercing videos, looking at places near me, etc.

my pain tolerance is somewhat unpredictable, i havent had piercings since my new ear piercings got messed up, one ripped straight thru the lobe and i was so scared to take the other one out the skin closed around it. i had leukemia when i was younger and went through a few questionably painful health procedures and am just unhealthy in general so i've been through the medical ringer. is it worth it to buy numbing cream or no?

if you are concerned about the pain and can afford the cream then i think you should just go ahead and buy it, why not

edit: why not- reading through other comments saying to get piercers approval first, i was curious and did some googling about piercings and numbing cream, and apparently since the numbing cream can constrict your tissue, it could result in your piercing being crooked once the skin relaxes (even if it was a perfectly straight pierce with the cream applied) so i think thats a pretty good reason to not mess with the cream at all

As someone with a spectrum piercing, that **** annoyingly hurt during the healing process. It got super crusty and I had to clean it off daily with a sea salt spray until it stopped being crusty. Let's not forget the absolute pain I felt getting it.

Everything better now but got damn, it's alot at the beginning.

I think it's best to ask your piercer about the numbing cream? I've heard a few piercers say that numbing cream can affect the area differently. Hoping it goes well for you and heals nicely!

It's better not to use numbing cream unless you've your piercers approval.

I've been pierced 20+ times and septum was one of my easier ones. Although I made the silly decision to get a philtrum piercing at the same time - that was just a minute or so after getting my septum done and hurt quite a bit.

On the whole though, piercings shouldn't give you unendurable pain. It's a sharp pain for a minute or so then it dies down.

For me the piercing only slightly hurt when it was initially pierced. The healing process was super smooth. Since it’s in your nose you won’t be messing with it. Mine didn’t get crusty. With piercings it’s better to leave them alone imo. I also have a high pain tolerance though.
