Do you ever take it out for a walk? I heard that can be relaxing, but I can't imagine it with my smelly, dumb, annoying doggy. Good thing my parents never let me leave the house anyway ;)
 
When other people do amazing at things, you want to strive to be just as amazing as them, right?
It's like unintentional peer pressure that makes you feel like you can't do anything, that these other people are better then you and you can never be as great as them.

I have idea.. Take up an obscure sport that appeals to you. One that no one (or very few people) at your school does and there are so few people in competitions that you win a tonne of medals.

I used to do pole vault in high school. I wasn't even that fantastic at it but because it was such a little known sport, I went to heaps of nationals and a lot of the students and teachers at school thought I was an "elite athlete" and on track for the olympics. Plus it's freaking awesome. Look it up lol.

In all seriousness though, find a hobby or sport. You might need to try a few to find one that really appeals to you. Something that you either excel at or find so enjoyable that you don't care how well you do.
 
Of course she can feel bad. But ffs, 12-year-olds usually have some figuring out to do. It's not abnormal, and telling her she needs anti-depressants at this point is just ridiculous. Being 12 sucks. It's unfortunate, but being a young person just sucks.

actually, i started antidepressants when i was 12. :s i was suicidal at the time though, so i think thats a little different...

irregardless, a lot of us know how you feel. unfortunately, right now im not in a position to give you the best of advice, since im in a pretty bad place rn.

i can advise some meditation. theres an app called "Take a Break" for both android and iphone. its guided meditation with sound in the background, it can be used for calming yourself and as a form of self-care.

sometimes, my therapists would advise the "fake it until you make it" method. that means smiling 5 minutes a day 3 times a day in a mirror and telling yourself youre worthy, youre great, and you ARE capable of things. i have heard of it working, but have not tried it myself yet.

My self esteem regarding my appearance is decent l, I guess. Though the longer my hair grows out, the lower my self esteem gets.

My overall worth though is as low as it can go. I really don't have anything worthwhile. I'm just a waste of space

I think I was depressed when I was younger, but I just assumed that's how I was. REGARDLESS, I wouldn't jump to that conclusion with someone that young, that quickly.

I know people of all ages have problems, but having cited "peer pressure" as a major stressor, I just- I can't sympathize so much, seeing as that ceases to exist after you get to a certain age. All you gotta do is take care and make it. Sometimes you just gotta realize other people's opinions don't matter so much, y'know?
 
My self esteem is low and I mask it with lots of jokes about being overly confident. Fake it til you make it. ;D

i think i was more of an emergency case which is why i was sent so fast. im not sure though.

i suppose peer pressure does stop existing after a while, but i havent hit that point yet hehe

See. I do not interact with the 18 and under crowd- ever. So being around here makes me feel like a crotchety old man. These kids and their talking animals! Back in my day we had tamagotchis and you had to feed 'em! Or they'd die in their own waste products!
