its not much of a new thing, but there are self driving cars, but do any of you think they are safe?, who knows it could malfunction at any time?

also would you use one?

I'd totally use one. If everyone used self driving cars then there probably would be less accidents.

I say this, because most self-driving cars only ever get into accidents because the people they account for are the ones breaking traffic laws and the software has a difficult time accounting for human error.

If all the cars were self-driven, then there wouldn't be an issue.

i think self driving cars seem to be really cool. they're safer than human driven cars since they don't really make human errors i guess?

but i can just imagine all the worry about ppl hacking cars n stuff in the media idk. ... i don't know a lot about the cars but i know that ppl are worried about having a lot of self driving cars on the roads.

I wouldn't use one. I'd rather be responsible for my own driving, and keeping myself safe, rather than relying on an automated system to do it for me. I just feel like there are so many things that could go wrong with a complex system like that, though I guess it would be great for people with disabilities that prevented them from driving.

I wouldn't trust my life with self driving technology on the road. What if people learn how to hack these self driving cars? What if the car malfunctions? What if it doesn't detect obstacles fast enough? I have several concerns as to whether this would really be a safe thing to use in the future.

I really need one. I have a disability and I suppose that's probably the reason why I get lost and have panic attacks 95% of the time I drive. And now my boyfriend has his license suspended for 2 years, so guess who has to drive everybody everywhere. I do! I am absolutely horrified...

No, I would never.
I swear I heard a story of a guy and his car drove into a truck because it was blue the colour of the sky.

I would definitely use one, Self Driving cars can drop the percentage of car accidents.

Of course the passenger of the self-driving car would have to be educated on what to do just in case in the car malfunctions or if there was some sort of incident happening inside the car.

I can understand the safety concerns with them, but I think they would be safer than having drunk and distracted drivers on the road. I just wonder how self-driving cars would work in different weather conditions and how they would adjust for construction and other irregular situations.

The issue with those cars are that the producers have to program the car to either hit the pedestrian and kill them, or swerve and drive off the cliff and kill the driver. There will definitely be lawsuits from those eventually.

I might, but not until they're widespread and tested a lot. I would be afraid for malfunctions. But I generally trust human driving and instinct over a machine's. Except drunk drivers ofc.

As long as they are well-maintained, I believe they are more reliable than human drivers. I would use one. Especially since I stink at parallel parking. lol

No, I wouldn't trust such a car, but I guess this technology will improve really quickly. Also, I really love driving... So just sitting in the car and letting it do all the job must be really boring. xD

I think they're a good thing to have. It will allow disabled people and those with anxiety to get to places. I could see it being useful for people who drank too much and need to get home. There's a lot of careless drivers as of now so maybe this will help with less accidents occurring.

probably safer than the majority of drivers we have already, but still certainly a long ways off from anything truly safe

though I'd honestly rather see public transportation be more useful in areas that its currently pretty useless (like basically the entirety of the USA)

Self driving cars in 10 years will be everywhere.I think it is good think over all i would love to sit back once awile and relax and not have to do anything but sit. Also gonna happen sooner or later wny not do it now.

wait what .
it's probably going to try to maybe stop??? like.,,. idk but i don't think it would "choose" to try to kill anyone, it's far more likely that they try to make it stop even tho it might still hit the pedestrian lol
