Second town, one/DS memory card

Hi!

I am really sorry if this is a stupid question, I want to start a new town but I want to also keep my old town. I would be totally devasted if I lost my old one as I spent SO much time on it.

How do I start a new town without my old one getting deleted or corrupted?

Second card? New game cartridge?

It has to be another game. You can't make two town files on one cartridge/game.

Yeah the only thing you can do on your current cartridge is have one town with a mayor and then 3 alt characters. To get a whole new town you would need another game

No, it shouldn't effect it at all.

I have 3 towns and 3 different game cartridges! The saves themselves are on the game cartridge, that's why if you buy an ac game used there's sometimes a town already on it.
