Hey there,

I'd like to know if having a second player in your town effects resident dialogue, gameplay, and overall experience negatively. In City Folk it was rather annoying- every other thing your residents saying being about the second player. I'm sure it wouldn't be that big of a deal- but in Animal Crossing, it's truly about the little things. It all adds up. lol

Thanks!

Can't vouch for a 2nd since I have 4 players in my island but the villagers bring them up quite often to be honest. They mention when the other players has changed their title, changed their look, etc. & ask about their favorites. I would say it's not much more often than their mentions of previous island visitors. Land-wise it hasn't bothered me too much though as the houses are rather small <:

Yes, they do mention them often and I kind of hate it because the conversations go nowhere.
"Do you know what X likes?"
Yes -- "Don't tell me, I'll ask them myself."
No -- "I wonder if they like the same stuff as me...I'll ask when I see them"
(Usually no is the better answer because the dialogue is more varied.)

I wouldn't mind if they actually tried to spread rumors or said something interesting, but just seems kind of pointless to mention them.

I do like the extra houses and characters, so no regrets really. :) The dialogue isn't that great anyway.

On occasion they bring them up. For example they may ask "do you know what so-and-so's favorite so-and-so is?" and you can answer "yes" or "no". My villagers do that a lot because I have 3 other residents but if you just had one, it'd be handle able. (I think they may bring up one certain resident once a day per villager? Idk.)

They also say things like "I saw so-and-so running around yesterday... I wonder what they were doing?" Or something like that.

Personally I don't find it annoying at all though I do wish they wouldn't ask about SCP-0408 every day (that's my brother lmfao)

I'll be blunt and say that as of now I have two players on my island and I don't know if my luck is bad but I generally have to talk to an animal about 3 times to get them to NOT talk about my player 2. (Greeting dialog -> player 2 dialog -> other dialog)

I should note my player 2 is not new at all so that has nothing to do with it. If you feel it's going to bother you to hear them constantly ask about the other player I recommend taking your time on making the decision, as even being inactive on the second player does not stop them from talking about it.

Yes, they bring up my other character up several times every day. They always want to talk or ask about her interests and hobbies, tell me that they haven't seen her in a while, or the opposite where they did see her running around and what they saw her doing. It's pretty annoying because I obviously know exactly what my other character was up to.

It's still worth it for all the benefits, though!

I have 5 characters and I find I usually have one villager a day mention something about one of the 5. I actually don’t mind it as I try to play all my characters somewhat equally and they all have different tastes and personalities. Almost like role playing but much more loose.

If my villagers didn’t mention my other characters at all I think it would be weird considering they are all living on the same island after all.

I’m guessing most people just have a second character as an extra they don’t really play as much and it’s more of an extension of your main character. In others words a second you. In that case I can understand why it might be annoying to some.

The mechanic was clearly made for islands that have one person per character. As it’s a cute concept to hear about what your friend, sibling, significant other etc. has been up to. It’s definitely not the same when both characters are you.
