Hey everyone!
So some of you may know that I ordered a second game and was taking town name suggestions in another forum. The game arrived yesterday and before I went ahead and cleared the existing save file, curiosity got the better of me and I of course had a little peek at what the previous owner was up to, and boy am I glad I did!
They've maxed out their house, have great items, excellent PWP's, rare tree stumps, and best of all, 4million bells saved up!
They hadn't visited their town in 2 years [would have been 3 years in 12 days] as a villager told me, so bamboo has grown at an extortionate rate (how pesky)
I've gone through several axes already trying to rid of them all and I'm still not finished.
They've filled the fossil section of the museum, but haven't made much progress in the other sections - which I'm glad about because I love bug catching/fishing!

So let me tell you a little bit about this town:
I wont be naming the mayor/town as it looks like it's the previous owner's actual name and place of residency,
so out of respect for their privacy I'll just keep this game-related :-)

I'm still not sure if I'll adopt this town and carry on its legacy, or if I will restart and make it my own. It's been fun seeing how much time and effort the previous owner put into this town, and how their playing style differs to mine.
It feels like it would be a shame to restart it, but is it weird if I carry on playing someone else's life?

Which brings me to this question.
Those of you who have purchased a second hand copy of the game, did you open up the game and continue playing, or did you just override the save file and start afresh?

I got a second-hand copy as my first and second copy of New Leaf and I just cleared it clean, it hadn't progressed really anyway. If you like the town then keep it.

I have a second game as well, but for cycling purposes. If I got a second copy with a game loaded on it already, I'd probably play it for a couple of days, and then restart it.

When I buy extra copies of AC games, I like to look at the pre-existing towns, but I would never continue them.

For me, AC is a very personal game. Taking over someone else's town, even if it was disregarded, would make me feel out of place. Also, I like the creation process of my towns. Part of the fun for me is watching my villagers move in, placing my own projects, and working on my own characters.

I never had one that it was used before so idk
I probably check it around. Save some stuff then erased

That's so neat! I would be really tempted to carry on with the town, but make it more my own. It's like the premise of the game, anyway--the former mayor left/retired, and it's up to you to build up the neglected town. :) I'd certainly demolish any PWPs I didn't care for, and build other ones instead, but I would love knowing I'd saved a "pre-loved" town.

Then again, I have complete plans drawn out for four entirely new towns (on top of my existing 3 1/2), so I don't know if I could stick with the commitment of someone else's town.
