I'm considering getting a second 3DS and a extra copy of New Leaf.

The question is, should I buy a cheap old 3DS or the New 3DS XL? I don't know, is it worth the extra money?

hmm.. if I were you, I'd go for the new 3ds! its better than the old versions lol

I just got a 3DS XL for Christmas, so I haven't had any experience with the New 3DS LL, but my XL is great. I still have my old 3DS, which comes in very handy for the times I want to trade stuff between my two towns, but I can't stand how small the screen is now.

I was given a used 3ds for my birthday, got it right before launch of the new 3dsXL, and although we maybe should have waited (I say we because I helped pick it out) til after the new one dropped so the price would be slightly lower, I am impatient and figured why not just go for it? If you have the money I'd go for the new one, it would be nice to have the upgraded 3D (though personally I don't like anything with face tracking, but I'm a bit paranoid) but if you never play in 3D anyway then I'd go for saving a bit of money and get a used one, I rarely turn my 3d on...
I'm still thrilled to have two systems at all to be able to trade with and visit myself and stuff, and would definitely say go for it, having multiple towns is WAY easier with multiple systems.

Buy a New3DS XL.

This.
Buy the new one, use your old (current) 3DS as the secondary. I plan on doing it myself, but before considered a 2DS since it's cheaper and does the same and is also a good alternative for a secondary 3DS system. Would be even better if you wanted it for Pokemon since there's the bundle.

Just get a 'new' 3DS.

I'm planning on keeping my old 3DS XL when I eventually get a 'new' 3DS, simply as a 'backup'.

Aside from the extra money, (at least for me) the added features and improvements make getting a New 3DS XL worthwhile. :)

I vote to just get the new one. No sense in having two old ones, really. Price different probably won't be that large.

I'd wait for the New New 3DS planned for release in 2016. I also heard rumours of a New New New 3DS.

Wasn't there also a rumor for New Majora's Mask HD 3D 4 Ultimate Chronicles?

probs took it too far but yolo

I have a 3DS XL and a 2DS, it's great having two as I can catalogue all my stuff in both games.

The New 3DS XL is definitely worth it.

I currently have my "old" 3DS XL and have no idea what to do with it, so I'll probably use it as my secondary. My brother stopped playing his copy of New Leaf so I have two. The one he gave me is actually my primary copy at the moment since I really felt like starting over from scratch. I had a map I thought I liked on my first one, but I grew to dislike it fairly quickly, but I had too much stuff do delete the game outright. The solution was to start over on his and give myself my own stuff on the new copy, haha. I'm still missing a lot of the PWPs I eventually want, and some villagers moved in on some unfortunate places, but I'll get there.

might as well get n3dsxl, but why do you need another 3ds? is it so you can trade in between towns?

Buy a new 3ds. No sense in buying two of the same, besides some game is probably gonna come out for it anyways ^.^
