When I played “New Leaf,” from August 2013 to March 2020 (I will get around to re-playing it), I bought numerous retail copies because I created, built, and established towns I liked and, especially, villagers I appreciated.
“New Horizons” is more costly because the game console Switch, compared with 3DS, allows only one copy [island]. So, I realize I should have a different approach.
My idea: Keep islanders year-round who are my personal favorites. (For me, it’s the Lazy bear cub Stitches, the Normal duck Molly, and the Smug squirrel Marshal. And we are all welcomed to our personal favorites.) And, while keeping the precious ones, cycle in and out other islanders who are right for particular times of the year. (I used the word season in the thread’s title. But, it doesn’t have to be for a period which is season-long.) A permanent home, of course, for Stitches, Molly, and Marshal. A vacation getaway for most others.
On my island, here in the summer, are the likes of Cranky octopus Octavian and Uchi chicken Plucky.
I am lately thinking of Fall.
I am also considering Winter.
And there will be a next Spring.
I already know I will think of deer delights Erik, a Lazy, and Fauna, a Normal, for Christmas.
I do look forward to getting reunited with other villagers/islanders who I enjoyed in “New Leaf.”
Who do you consider season-appropriate islanders? (Your suggestions, if you don’t mind.)

Edit (08.13.2020 @ 03:15 p.m. ET):
My island’s current cast: Jock bear Teddy (a starter with a generic house); Cranky octopus Octavian; Normal duck Molly; Smug squirrel Marshal; Lazy bear cub Stitches; Uchi chicken Plucky; Peppy dog Cookie; Normal koala Melba; Jock sheep Dom; and Peppy werewolf Audie. I intend to make my next islander a Snooty for the need to balance the island with representation from all personality categories. Having read a good number of comments already posted, I appreciate these suggestions by—and I thank all the—members here at “Bell Tree Forums”.
