When I played “New Leaf,” from August 2013 to March 2020 (I will get around to re-playing it), I bought numerous retail copies because I created, built, and established towns I liked and, especially, villagers I appreciated.

“New Horizons” is more costly because the game console Switch, compared with 3DS, allows only one copy [island]. So, I realize I should have a different approach.

My idea: Keep islanders year-round who are my personal favorites. (For me, it’s the Lazy bear cub Stitches, the Normal duck Molly, and the Smug squirrel Marshal. And we are all welcomed to our personal favorites.) And, while keeping the precious ones, cycle in and out other islanders who are right for particular times of the year. (I used the word season in the thread’s title. But, it doesn’t have to be for a period which is season-long.) A permanent home, of course, for Stitches, Molly, and Marshal. A vacation getaway for most others.

On my island, here in the summer, are the likes of Cranky octopus Octavian and Uchi chicken Plucky.

I am lately thinking of Fall.

I am also considering Winter.

And there will be a next Spring.

I already know I will think of deer delights Erik, a Lazy, and Fauna, a Normal, for Christmas.

I do look forward to getting reunited with other villagers/islanders who I enjoyed in “New Leaf.”

Who do you consider season-appropriate islanders? (Your suggestions, if you don’t mind.)

Edit (08.13.2020 @ 03:15 p.m. ET):

My island’s current cast: Jock bear Teddy (a starter with a generic house); Cranky octopus Octavian; Normal duck Molly; Smug squirrel Marshal; Lazy bear cub Stitches; Uchi chicken Plucky; Peppy dog Cookie; Normal koala Melba; Jock sheep Dom; and Peppy werewolf Audie. I intend to make my next islander a Snooty for the need to balance the island with representation from all personality categories. Having read a good number of comments already posted, I appreciate these suggestions by—and I thank all the—members here at “Bell Tree Forums”.

I feel like Fauna is more a fall villager. I’d definitely recommend Aurora as your winter normal (and possibly other penguins as well)

O'Hare, Audie and Bud are all perfect for summer, alongside Plucky.

@Sander already suggested Deirdre and Poppy for autumn, and I'd add Croque to the list.

For winter you could go for Fang, Hans, Whitney or even Tutu, and maybe consider Rudy, as he seems to be based off Rudolph the reindeer.

For spring I recommend Sylvana, as her house is cherry blossom themed.

Sprinkle is pretty obvious for winter but I thought I'd mention her since she hasn't been mentioned yet. I also like her for summer though because she reminds me of snow cones. Who wouldn't want to live in an ice house in the middle of summer?

Some villagers I haven’t seen mentioned yet:

summer: Annalise (beach-themed house and she has the flower accessory in her hair), Rod the pirate mouse, Caroline (another villager who was originally an islander and her fur is very vibrant)

autumn: Sheldon (his house interior is the mush set and his colors fit the theme)

winter: basically any of the penguins, Bianca the snow leopard

spring: Sylvana and maybe Bill too (both have cherry blossom themed houses), Pietro (he’s so colorful; could also work for summer), and in general I think the pastel villagers work best for this season

I also think Annalise for summer! Also Audie, Bud, Flora, June and Joey! They all have summery interiors and summery outfits! Except Joey but he’s a cute yellow duck :)

Spring: Sylvana, Cally, Beau, Lily
They all have cool spring/flowery interiors!

Fall: Poppy, Deidre have amazing autumn interiors and also have the right colors imo. Also maybe Maple? Her name and her colors remind me of fall

Winter: definitely the penguins but gotta mention Iggly in particular bc he has TWO Christmas trees

Poppy is great for Autumn! Her color scheme and house match perfectly. Monty also has fall themed house but his design doesn’t quite fit well. Ozzie kinda fits fall but could also be spring

For winter definitely some penguins

june would be super cool for summer. shes got the flower in her hair and a little sun dress on and the inside of her house is all summery and beachy!
for fall, i think ellie might be cute. shes tan and that fits the fall color palettes pretty well. also the inside of her house looks very autumn-y to me, cant quite describe why but she just fits fall very well. might be that shes supposed to be scottish or something? (her catchphrase is wee one, so)
blaire is very autumn-y to me too, as well as hazel!
for winter, although tucker is not the cutest, he is a mammoth and that is very wintery lol.
flurry is a cuter villager that fits winter, and so is sprinkles. grizzly comes off as wintery to me too even though bears technically hibernate in the winter lol. he might suit autumn better; the inside of his house is literally a campsite!! such an underrated cranky imo.
many of the sheep fit fall + winter to me too, because of how fluffly they are 🥺💖

Ooh, love this idea!

For Summer I also think Audie, O'Hare, Pekoe and June are great.

For Autumn I love villagers like Molly, Maple, Beau, Poppy, Shep. The list goes on because Autumn is one of favourite seasons in the game xD

For Spring I think Diana, Lily, Judy, Marina, Bill are all cuties and work well in Spring in my opinion.

For Winter I would go for Flurry, Sprinkle, Iggly, Whitney, Bianca. All cute and fit the Winter theme pretty well.

I see Plucky for summer and I guess that's because of her interior. But with the looks (as his shirt) I think Goose is also very good for summer.
And if you don't care about giving new clothes just give him the pineapple hat haha

Pekoe could be a good villager to have in the Spring. I agree with others when they say June would be great for the summer. I think Kiki works really well for Fall and around Halloween.

Been looking in the villager list. Won't put them all here but a few suggestions depending on looks/clothing and seasonal events like halloween :)

spring: Annalisa, Annalise, Ava, Blanche, Celia, Dom, Fauna, Gala, Judy, Lily, Lolly, Merry, Pekoe, Pinky, Snooty, Willow.

summer: Alice, Anabelle, Audie, Boots, Bud, Bunnie, Canberra, Coco, Goose, Henry, June, Melba, O'hare, Rex, Savannah, Sydney.

fall: Beau, Bruce, Chief, Curlos, Deirdre, Dobie, Fauna, Jacques, Ketchup, Kiki, Lucky, Maple, Marshal, Molly, Pecan, Punchy, Rasher, Spike, Sylvana, Zell.

winter: Admiral, Diana, Erik, Flo, Flurry, Hans, Hopper, Iggly, Muffy, Nate, Roald, Rolf, Ruby, Shep, Skye, Tucker, Vivian, Whitney.
