So the new Wii System Menu update came out today. In this update, Nintendo stated that it it detected hacks (modifications) that it would automatically delete it. That's unfair. It's my Wii, I've had it since it came out. My warranty has expired anyways. So i don't see what gives them the right to delete stuff from my wii. Of course, the logical answer is to not update it.

They don't have a right to break into your house and delete something from your Wii. But when you click Update you are willingly allowing them to delete stuff.

No, it is fair. Not only is it against the terms of service (which you agree to by using the Wii's online service), but Nintendo has to try block out homebrew and such, because it leads to piracy. And they have to remove DVDX because it's technically illegal to have your Wii be able to play DVDs, because Nintendo doesn't pay for the licensing for it, so Nintendo could get in a lot of trouble if they don't try to do anything about the issue. Besides, a fix will likely be out within the next few days. I'm sure you can live without homebrew until then. >_>

I agree

Yes, they do. When you buy a new game, it will inject the new update into your wii.

Well, hacks are hacks.

then don't buy new games.

i mean *censored.2.0* where do you people get off? you do *censored.2.0* that's plainly against the terms of use policies that you agree to and complain when updates try and prevent it?

They're not going out of their way to remove texture hacking. They probably don't even care about that. But they have to remove the Homebrew Channel because it aids with piracy and DVD playback. They're not removing it to get rid of texture hacks. Besides, you didn't have to update. If you would have read the message that Nintendo sent out to all Wiis, you would have known that it states clear as day that it will remove any unauthorized software modifications.

If you have the Homebrew Channel already, you can easily bypass that, you know.

Your doing something illegal they have the right to stop you its there system you can't do *censored.2.0*
Not after you buy it. It becomes yours. In a way.

You still have to abide by the terms of service, or else they have every right to try to stop you. If they didn't, they could get in big trouble.

Here's my thought on it. Screw this update, screw Wii Shop Channel, screw Wii Connect 24, Gecko OS > All. Just load your new game through Gecko, you can play Super Mario Galaxy 2 with a Wii Menu v3.2.

For me, 3.4 forever. >:D

Hmm, this reminds me. I should have my system modded when the warranty runs out. I never use it anyway, and it might be fun screwing around with homebrew stuff.

Better go disable Wii Connect24 to prepare :P
