I still need to catch a scorpion and a tarantula for my encyclopedia and museum, and I was just wondering if anyone knew the best times for them, and if they appear on patterns or flowers

Summer months.

10:00 p.m.

(I can’t remember exactly—but it may be 08:00 p.m., and after, for the one of them.)

If I recall correctly, they will appear from 7pm to 4am. From my experience, they don't hide in plants and can just appear out in the open. It takes a long while for them to spawn but with a lot of patience, you can do it!

I know that I caught both my tarantula and scorpion quite late, between about midnight and 2:00AM. I'm not sure if that's the best time for them, though. I had to do quite a bit of searching and I ran into a lot more tarantulas than scorpions. I found that most of mine appeared in more open areas and they seemed to reappear in those same areas over and over again. They would run over patterns, but I don't know if they spawned on them. And whenever mine ran into the flowers or behind a tree, they usually disappeared.

From what I have seen, they do not spawn on spots with QRs or flowers. They also spawn in the same area that snowballs spawn in. They can run over pattern once spawned, but will not spawn on top of the same space that a flower or QR is occupying. As for times, it's really random, mine have appeared anywhere from 7 to midnight.

i read somewhere that they won't spawn if you have a bunch of trees/flowers/items in your town. is this also true? because i have a ton of flowers and trees and i don't want that to be preventing them from appearing

tarantulas will appear from June-August - 7:00 PM - 4 AM

scorpions will be found from July-September - 7:00 PM - 4 AM

just keep in mind, they have a mind of their own, and may wander off cliffs and into rivers/ponds ^^

I've heard from a couple of other people that they do spawn in flowers, but I'm not sure about the paths though. When I went hunting for the scorpion and tarantula, I did them in separate months. I caught the tarantula in June and the scorpion in September. This way only one of them was out and it made it a lot easier to find and catch them. A helpful tip for the tarantula would be to catch in during the Summer Solstice as you can literally see it easier due to being in the daylight. Also, one last thing, I went hunting for them between 7pm and 4am. That's when they are out.

I'm really struggling with this right now. I've got a few clear spaces in Fujimori specifically so I can catch these suckers, but they don't seem to want to come visit me. :'(

They will spawn as long as there is open space for them. However, getting rid of your trees and flowers will make them easier to spot, and you'll have fewer types of bugs spawning in the meantime, though I don't think it'll increase the % chance of them spawning

Save and continue will be your friend here. They reset bug/fish spawns. So just wander around town around your open areas (they don't spawn on top of patterns or flowers, it seems) and if they aren't there, save and continue. Repeat this until you find them. This is what worked for me and I literally found it easily (I had lots of patterns and flowers too so I only had to check the very few open spaces in my town). Not sure what time but it was after 7pm for sure.

Found that I got them easier when I got the town initiative for 2 coupons.
Some posted that wearing headphones helps to hear those bugs.

If it tries to jump into the river, pond or cliff try moving back. I've stopped some from jumping into the river.

I heard in another thread that saving too often will result in your save data becoming corrupted. I don't know if that's true or not, but now I'm scared to utilize save and continue too often.

Going inside the building resets the bugs/fish. I use the train station after making a couple of loops around town.

I mean, you don’t really have to get rid of all your trees....

Just do what do: go about your business and then you’ll eventually find one.

Yay! I finally caught one!

I can confirm that they will spawn even if you have lots of flowers, trees, and paths. I have tons of stuff all over the place and this one spawned right in the middle of the town center, near the mayor tree around 12:30 AM.

it happened to me twice in Town Kenma, but i got stung both times. I nearly caught the scorpion though

Opened my spare town on June 1st just after midnight to do some clean up. The town is full of tiles to protect trees and to stopped villagers from plotting.
Between 2am to 210am the mayor saw 3 tarantulas. Caught 2 in the same place. One de-spawned into the ground. Both moved a little and than just stayed in place waiting to be caught.

Bonus caught all the late night June fish.
