Thanks for holding this contest Apple!! <3 I hope this story turned out okay! English isn't my first language, so I'm worried I made a ton of errors ahhhh! I was scared of entering at first because of it, but I'm really happy I finished this story! It was fun thinking up this story and typing it out! <3

?Where am I?? she says.

She looks around confused and all she sees is a very old, dusty room with cobwebs and dust all over the furniture. She slowly gets up, passing by the closed door, avoiding all the cobwebs, and makes her way towards the lit candle in the room.

?How did I get here?? she wonders.

As she tries to remember how she got here, she grabs the lit candle and hovers it towards a broken mirror. She sees her reflection. You can see she?s a young girl in her twenties with medium length dark brown hair and hazel eyes, wearing a cute Animal Crossing t-shirt with black jeans and her favorite black and white Adidas shoes. Around her thin waist she?s wearing a dark blue Adidas fanny pack.

Looking at her fanny pack, she opens it up to see what?s inside. She finds her phone, a rice cracker snack, her wallet, and a small water bottle.

?Phewwww,? she lets out a sigh of relief.

She?s happy to know none of her belongings were stolen. She grabs her phone and looks through her contacts?.

?W-What?.? she stutters.

The only contact in her phone is labeled as ??e??h?. At this point she?s frightened. She knows she had her family and friend?s contacts on her phone. She doesn?t understand how the only contact in her phone are those ominous question marks with an ?e? and ?h?. Her hands are shaking as she slowly grabs her small water bottle. She tries to calm herself down by drinking some water and telling herself this is just a prank.

?crEAAAAAAAAK? the old door slowly opens.

?EEEEEEK? she screams frighteningly. ?I-I-Is anyone there?? she asks.

There was just dead silence. She slowly walks over to the half opened door and as she?s about to peek out?

?Bvvvrrrrrr? her phone vibrates.

?EEEP? she yells, startled by her phone.

She slams the door closed and rushes to the corner of the room with her lit candle and phone. She?s hoping that vibration was maybe a text from her family or friends. She hurriedly looks at her notifications and it was a text from that ominous contact.

?No no no no no, please NO...? she says.

Her heart is racing rapidly, scared for what?s to come, hoping this is just a prank or maybe even a dream.

?BVVVVRRRRRR? her phone vibrates again.

?Why?.why..? she asks.

It?s from that same ominous contact.

?W-What does it want from me? what did I do????

She?s too scared to open up the text from the ominous contact, so she gets up and walks towards the door. She turns the doorknob, but the door wouldn?t open.

?BVVVVVVVVRRRR? her phone vibrates once again.

?PLEASE JUST STOP!!!? she screams.

She hurries back to her corner, shaking.

?What do I do...what do I do? WHAT DO I DO??? she questions herself while covering her face with her hands.

She looks at her phone and saw she had 3 missed text messages from that ominous contact. She?s afraid to open it, but what other choice does she have? Maybe there?s some way out of this if she opens up the text message, or maybe the person on the other line is just pulling a prank on her. She opens up her text and then her phone starts to flicker?

?EEP! W-What?s happening???? she stutters frighteningly.

The candle burns out. The only light source she has in this room now is her flickering phone. Her eyes are glued to it now, as that ominous contact?s name starts to change to?

Ahhh tysm bae! I'm really glad you think so! ; w ;

"Time to go to sleep" said Tom's mother with a humble and quiet voice.

Tom ran to his bed with the very old floorboards shaking and rumbling, with his every move. He collapsed onto his loud, and old bed with loads of cobwebs underneath.

"Tomorrow's my 8th birthday!" He screamed as he jumped on his bed with excitement.

"Now, now Tom go to sleep." She said "who knows whats in store for you" she said with a chuckle. But Tom knew that chuckle wasn't a normal chuckle.

As she walked out of the room and turned off the light, Tom said to himself "hopefully dad is watching me above the clouds." He said with a tear coming down his eye.

As Tom put his head on his pillow, he felt a piece of paper beneath his ear. He grabs his rusty and dirty flashlight and reads it "YOU'RE NEXT!"

Tom immediately realizes that someone's out to get him and decides to run to another room.

He decides that it's best to run to his dad's abandoned closet and than he'll come in the morning since no one would bother to check there. He quickly locks himself in the closet and finds another piece of paper and unwillingly decides to check what it says. He takes a while to read and then is horrified of what he just read. It says "Tom, beware of your mother, she's not as nice as she seems. Sincerely, Dad." Tom starts to panic and thinks of running away and bringing nothing with him as he doesn't have much time.

The shattered window is the first thing that comes to mind. The floorboards are really old and loud. And his mom wouldn't notice him going out as her room is on the other side of the old bungalow, and they're too poor to be able to afford outdoor security cameras.

Tom decided to run to mom's sister who was nearby. He jumped out of the window, and never looked back.

He frantically knocked on the door. Than the door opened slowly.

"Hello... " A quiet voice whispered.

"Hello!" Said Tom. "Could I ask you about your sister. She's my mom." Some people have been telling me that she's not the best."

"You don't want to know. I advise that you stay away from her. Trust me, she's dangerous." She said with a quiet and worried voice.

The door shuts. Tom decides to check back at the bungalow very quickly without being seen. He quietly peeks around the biggest oak tree in town. He sees his mom outside of the burning bungalow. "That should be enough to finish Tom. What a useless burden." She said with a psychotic voice.

Tom starts dashing away. All the way to the gas station. He runs in to see Chuck, one of the cashier's at the gas station. His eyes were bloodshot red.

"Didn't your mother tell me that she was going to get rid of you." He said with a drunk voice which alerted Tom that Chuck must be in on the plan.

Tom immediately runs out of the gas station and slam the door, only to find his mom standing outside. The door slam alerted mom to look at the gas station and she saw him. Her eyes widened with anger.

"I thought I got rid of you!" She said with a stern voice.

Tom immediately started to run only for his mom to chase him.

"Help, Help!" Tom screamed helplessly."

The two ran into the woods onto a trail. The towns most visited landmark. Tom's mom was catching up to him. But Tom spotted a police car and two policemen standing outside.

The policemen saw what was going on and grabbed the mom by her arms.

"You'll pay! You won't get away from me!"

Tom looked at his mom once more for the last time, and she was never seen again.

I wasn't able to put the title in purple since it wouldn't let me for some reason.

Whew made it, 994 words! Thanks for hosting this Apple, I love scary stories and I haven't written anything in a looooooong time so this was a lot of fun. :D

"There's someone up there."

I didn't bother telling her to shut up this time. She had been at it since mom left two hours ago and if she wasn't bored of it yet I guessed she never would be. I was trying to keep my attention on the TV; my favorite show was on and she knew that.

"Gabi don't you hear it?" She was right beside me now, practically talking in my ear, refusing to be ignored. I didn't get mad at her, though. She's only seven and this has been a favorite game of hers since our house developed a bad rat problem.

"I do. It's rats, Lisa," I said, and rolled my eyes. You could hear them in the ceiling all night when you were trying to sleep. Sometimes the sound of them was loud enough to be scary, even to me, and I'm not a little kid like my sister. I suspected a raccoon had got up there as well as the rats, or maybe even possums, something like that.

Lisa climbed up onto the couch with me and looked up at the roof, where the sound had stopped, at least for the moment. "It was loud that time. You didn't hear it. You weren't listening."

I glanced over at her and realized she actually did look scared. I smiled a little to myself. Spent all night trying to freak me out and ended up scaring herself instead. I turned the TV down nonetheless- she was right about that, I definitely hadn't been paying attention.

"You know we never did find out if that window opened," I said in a low voice, and when she looked at me her eyes were big.

There was a window on the outside of our house, you see, to give the illusion that we have an upper floor or an attic. We have neither. You can't get to the window unless you climb up onto the roof with a ladder. We did one time, Lisa and me. Up until that point I assumed it was a complete fake, just a piece of glass stuck to the front of the house, but when we got up close to it I realized we could look in. At first I felt a rush of fear, certain we were going to look into some hidden dungeon of horrors, but we didn't see much. It just looked like an old crawl space in there, and it was very empty.

"Do you think this opens?" I wondered aloud at the time, and started to feel around the edge of the window for any kind of catch (there didn't appear to be any), but before we got any further mom came around to the front of the yard and yelled at us to get down. Lisa seemed relieved, even though we were in trouble.

"What if it does, Lisa?" I said now, knowing I was being mean but not feeling very bad about it. She had been trying to do it to me, after all. "What if it actually opens and someone's up there?"

"Don't-" she started, but just then there was a loud thump! and we both jumped.

"It's a raccoon," I told her uncertainly, suddenly losing interest in the game. I remembered how after we had discovered that strange inaccessible crawl space (inaccessible from inside of the house, you mean, I thought to myself) the two of us had started to joke that there was a dead body hidden up there. Mom didn't think it was funny. I think she blamed me for Lisa's morbid humor.

For a minute we sat in silence on the couch, looking up, waiting to see if any more sounds would come. I was hoping for the tell-tale scurrying sound of gross little rodent feet. At the moment it would have been a comfort.

Instead what I heard from above us sounded much heavier.

It sounded like foot steps.

"Gabi, you hear it, right, you..." my sister trailed off. She was pressed against me now, in a tight ball of fear. I was trying to remember where I left my phone, feeling my heart hammering in my throat. Can you even call the cops because you think you heard a person in your ceiling? In a room with no way to get inside?

The sound of the foot steps stopped. In my panicked mind I imagined they were right over our heads.

"Lisa, get up, let's go to my room so I can-"

BOOM!

This time we both screamed. I jumped to my feet and Lisa tumbled off the couch with a squawk. I was worried she would cry, or something, but I knew she had realized the same thing I did: that sound didn't come from the roof. It was the front door banging open.

"You two could have let me in," our mother said impatiently, appearing around the corner with grocery bags in her hands. She looked more than a little annoyed but I could have fallen at her feet. "Didn't you hear me knocking?"

"Was that you?" Lisa asked hopefully, looking up at her with a mixed expression of fear and adoration.

"Who did you think it was?" Mom looked impatiently at her and then to me. "There's more groceries in the car, you know. Help me bring them in, please."

With the terror of the moments before already passing in our minds me and my sister both hurried to the front entrance to slip on our shoes and coats and do so.

Lisa beat me outside. As I was pulling my shoe on mom said angrily from behind me, "And I told you not to play around on the roof anymore."

I turned around to look at her, confused. "What?"

She narrowed her eyes at me and nodded her head toward the door.

"I saw the ladder. It's leaned up against the house again."

"Ew" You find a hair inbetween buns when you opened a pack of sandwiches for lunch.
You pinch them away, and eat the sandwiches, like nothing happened.

You talk and laugh with a glass of drink in your hands.
You're enjoying the dinner at fancy restaurant with your friends.
"Hmm..??" You feel something wrong with your tongue.
"Excuse me" You go to bathroom, open your mouth - and you find a hair on the tongue - long hair which doesn't look yours.
You remove it out of mouth, and get back to the table.

You get back home and relax on the bed, with a book in your hands.
You flip the page. Then you find a hair there. The same hair that doesn't look yours.
"Goddammit" You remove it, give up reading book, and go to bathroom to brush your teeth.

"......" The hair.
is inbetween your teeth. You feel it with the flavor of the toothpaste. Despite nothing was in mouth or toothpaste before you started brushing.

"...!! H E L P...!!"
