Scary Long Saving?

I went to save my game just now since I couldn't seem to connect to the Internet and thought I needed to do the latest update thing. When I saved, it wouldn't... stop saving? This was originally an "I lost my town!!" thread but after like ten minutes it finished saving THANK GOD. I thought all was lost and I'd have to turn off my DS!!

Has this happened to anyone else before?? I like can't breathe right now...

Longer than normal saves? Yes. Ten minute saves? No.

If these 10 minute saves keeps happening I suggest that you get a powersave to back up your save file. I would hate to find out if your save file gets corrupted. As for myself I am still considering weather to get a powersave strictly for this reason. As a gamer It would devastate me if I lost my ACNL save file. So with that my heart goes out to people who lost their towns.

When I save it usually just goes for about 5 seconds, but one time it went through 2 full minutes.. while it was saving I got so scared bc I thought if the save screen doesn't end after a while i might have no other choice but to turn the console off which means my data will be deleted yikes

I just recently found out about how easy the ACNL game file can get corrupted if not powered down correctly. So now I am never soft resetting or hitting the power button again. All though I occasionally do it if I'm too upset to play a game or if I don't feel well. But I really should stop that and not be lazy when I feel crappy.

omg what do you mean by "if not powered down correctly"?????? im scared

What I mean is that every time you reset or turn off the power without saving its a tiny chance of your game file going corrupted. It's nothing you should worry about so don't let it scare you. Just remember to save when you're done playing and keep an eye on your battery power. Yikes, I'm starting to sound like Mr. Resetti........

Thankfully this is the first time it's ever happened. I believe it was because of my router acting up.

At first I thought the cartridge got corrupted as I had accidentally switched it out this morning without realizing I hadn't closed the software yet. (It was on the title screen of course lol) Looks like I'll have to be extra careful from now on o-o

Same. I've had slightly longer saves before that make me nervous but then it finishes and I can breathe again. I've had way too many encounters with games freezing or whatever during saving forcing total corruption... it sucks really. :/

Power save would be best since it won't mess up your town, and from what it seems this game can easily lose your data etc. But I wouldn't even use that word on here. I made a thread strictly about backing up with a power save in case anyone didn't know what it was (and I hate seeing how people lose their hard work) and one of the mods on here closed it saying power saves (even just for backing up) is against their rules. The word alone drives them crazy >.<

Wow that happened to me once, but I assumed it was because I turned the game off too fast after booting it up, because I was plot resetting. Now I'm a lil nervous lol.

Ten minutes is pretty bad. I had long saves during after I was duping with another friend or just when returning to my town, but ten minutes is very long.

I wouldn't admit to duping on here >.<

But if you have a poor connection and do any saving that requires wifi I could see it taking long, I wonder though, for plot resetting if you don't save, if turning it off like that could also corrupt the file.. :l If it really did last 10 minutes or longer I think something is wrong though

This. I'm not exactly tech-savvy so I don't know the reason why, but when I had this problem flicking the wifi switch always worked. My game would save immediately after.

Hm... I wouldn't really know why it would take that long normally, but I do remember in WW that it usually took a really long time the first time you saved - like, it was always literally a few minutes. Maybe it could be something like that. I'm guessing it wasn't a new town, but maybe if you did a lot since the last time you saved, especially if you already had a lot in your town.

Otherwise, it could just have had a problem processing some part of the data it was trying to save, hopefully it was a one-time thing if so.

Well... My first WW save was five, maybe ten seconds :X

Sometimes mine will run about a minute. But I've had it take 10 minutes before. I was googling for help and found someone who'd suggested the above. I flipped the switch and within 10 seconds, it had finished saving.

This happened to me once. It usually happens when my wifi isn't working so I turned off the wifi and it saved. It's scary though.

This has happened to me about 3 times (maybe more). Each of those saves caused my heart to stop. I love my town waaaayy~ too much to restart :'( I hope no one has to experience corruption due to saving..
