Scammers or uninvited guests stories?

A newbie forum user came to my town to get a villager, he ran through all my hybrids, talked to all my villagers and then picked up stuff on the plaza that was mine. I just closed my 3ds in frustration, and tried my best not to throw it lol.

I enjoy hosting and providing a town for players to sell their turnips and fruit.
I leave the town open to visitors while I am cooking and running errands and most ACNL players are respectful and honest.
But every so often a "bad apple" would seek in and do their best to take and/or destroy whatever.
Since I have been breeding Hybrid roses for a few years I have quite a lot of them all over my town.
They were an easy target for some not so nice people.
Anyway ... I don't worry about this now.

I can restore my town so I am no longer worried about someone scamming me or damaging my town.
Do what they will ... the town can be restored to exactly as it was before they came.

I used to have a friend in real life who would ruin my town everytime she came over. She never wanted to wifi in her own town, only mine. And when she'd come over all my flowers would just go missing and she'd blame it on my villagers. She literally would tell me to my face that she saw my villagers picking up my hybrids, which isn't even possible. And she would just run everywhere and take anything she wanted. Of course, she once again blamed the animals. Needless to say, we aren't friends anymore and I would never let her into my New Leaf town.

Geez. She sounds like an absolutely horrible person.

I met up with a bunch of cool people on an Island who all added each other and then went to one of the people's towns, there we played hide'n'seek which was really fun the first couple of rounds. But then the owner of the town was one of the 2 left hiding and one of the other guys was looking for him, I was trying to glitch through to the railroad, and the other girl was still hiding too. And after the guy who was it was going around the town he pulled up or destroyed a bunch of the mayors flowers to get him to come out like "Oh no, didn't you have for of these rare flowers in your flower box? not two?" and the guy was like "you can't trick me to come out!" and after he kept egging him to come out he did and low and behold the flowers were gone, he SWORE it wasn't him who did it, but I was busy trying to get through the tracks and the other girl was still hiding! Then after that he was like "Oh no, don't look over here, someone destroyed more of your flowers!" and the mayor had like a huuuuge field of blue and gold roses and like half of them were gone... Me and the girl KNEW it was the guy who was it but the mayor guy wasn't sure so it really sucked because he was all mad at us all for it when we did nothing...the guy who destroyed the flowers always messages me (cause we all BF'd each other) and asks if he can come over all the time... I need to find out his player number so I can delete him...

I don't really know if this counts because part of it was due to me being STUPID, but when I first started my account on these forums I was selling a bunch of stuff/ looking for DLC items. I didn't know how easy it was to get DLC items, so the person I traded with offered me like two orderable dlc items for stuff like an entire egg set, jacob ladders, and orange roses. He had a decent wifi rating so I accepted and we traded. Later I found out that I was pretty much scammed and he took advantage of a newbie forum user. I later found out it was an unfair trade and just asked for most of my jacob ladders back. (I still let him keep everything else.) He replied like a day or two later, and accepted, but he asked if he could get some "signatures." He literally ran around that I could not keep up with him and I have no idea if he took other hybrids or not.

i've never randomly opened my gates for people to come by, and i've never been scammed / stolen from. if i've ever traded in my town, i follow unknown guests like a hawk and if you decide to try to mess with anything i don't hesitate to flip the switch and deny you a refund for being scummy.

some of my friends on here really like playing in my town but i usually only ever invite people over that i know i can trust.
so chances are if you ask to visit my town, and i tell you no, i don't trust you. :')

Not really an unwanted guest or a scammer, but one thing I really dislike is when someone makes a trade or connection difficult for you, and then they just give up/automatically give a bad rating. I love to hold giveaways, and I've only ever had one bad connection with someone. I had managed to get prizes out to everyone except for one person. This person was supposed to get a silver slingshot from me, and we added each other, and everything seemed fine until we actually tried to connect. Their time zone was different from mine, so I'd often stay up late at night waiting for the "ok" for me to go to their town, and even opened my gate a few times. Every time I sat around for over an hour waiting, nothing. No messages either. Then I'd get messages asking why I didn't show. I apologized many times, and we rescheduled repeatedly, but in the end this person gave upon me and just a bad wifi rating. They said I failed to show up every time, and they never responded to my last message, begging them to let me fix this. I know one bad rating shouldn't matter, but it matters to others, and some people may not even bother with me if I don't have a 100%. Ok, I finally ranted. I've only had that inside me for AGES. xc

If you like you could contact a moderator with evidence of them not responding to your messages to get that negative rating removed.

I was nice enough to let someone into my one town to check things out and stuff.... Then they showed up in my other town without telling me.... I didn't think much of it (being positive and optimistic) and let them explore too.... But later once they left (without even saying bye I might add) I went to do landscaping and they replaced my golden axe and shovel with a plain axe and silver shovel.... I PMed them about it and got no response, I know they're name and town so they are forbidden from coming back until I get an answer

I wish I could do that, it'd be great, but I think the only real evidence left is a few VMs. I don't think they're have a lot of details in them either. This happened a while ago, so my inbox has been emptied many times since then.>.< Thank you very much for telling me this though. I appreciate it. <3

I actually made a forum about this once, and it got pretty popular... It's kinda creepy.

I left my gates open and had quite a few people on my friends list. I had 3 of my friends over, and when I came back, a boy called "tony" was leaving. My friends told me that he came after another left to quickly get something from her town. Apparently he said "hi", and didn't say anything else when they tried to talk to him. They couldn't find him, but after a while, he left, and that's when I came back. I ended the session, and wandered around my town. All of my hybrids were gone, and so were all of my items on the ground. I questioned every single one of my friends, and they said they didn't do it. I deleted everyone off of my friends list, and opened my gates to test again, just in case to see. I don't remember adding a "tony." I waited about ten minutes, and tony actually came. He walked in and holy... It was just scary. I cut wi-fi straight away and that's when I made a forum. I haven't seen him since I got a new 3ds, though, Thank God.

I also restarted after that. I still don't know what caused him 'til this day. Maybe it was a glitch, I don't know.

Once I invited a girl from club tortimer to my town and she took of running. I asked her to stay with me but she wouldn't. Finally when I caught up with her she was steeling the Jacobs ladder from my original town I kept as a souvenir. Finnaly I got her to stop and we went shopping. She claimed she needed bells so I let her go to the bank but after she left I noticed all my purple roses where gone and when I asked her about it she said she didn't take them. Ever sense then I don't invite anyone over from club tortimer. Tipon't go to club Tortimer for friends! Lol

I've actually had a similar experience around two years or so ago, only nothing was missing.
It was just that someone who wasn't on my friends list came in when my gates where open, didn't say/do anything so I eventually kicked him out and cleaned the list entirely. Hasn't happened since.
Probably was someone on the list that I just forgot about, but that was before I was on the forums and my list was much smaller ;-;

Before I reset, I had alot of friends who wanted golden items, so I decided to sell them some...well apparently one of my fellow irl friends decided they wanted to bring along one of their online friends, we'll call them cookie, to the trade, I trust this person irl, so I said okay as long as they keep a watchful eye on them. Well this, 'Cookie', decided to bring one other person I didn't know but my irl friend was acquainted with. So obviously I was a bit nervous, 'Cookie's' friend, we'll call him Kazoo, decided that it was a wonderful idea to constantly bug us during our trade, since my irl friend wanted other stuff as well and we were haggling prices. 'Kazoo' must've not been a very patient person since he decided it was a fun idea to just start vandalising my town, 'Cookie' also decided to join in on the fun. Well as soon as my irl friend and I we're done, to my horror, 'Kazoo and Cookie' stole my flowers, random items on the floor, buried items, all my fruit, etc. They also decided it would be fun to cut down all my trees and dig up my hibiscuses, while cursing and spouting racial slurs...well I learned my lesson and decided to NEVER add my friends' friends unless I truly know them...

Mystery thief stole some hybrids I was storing on the beach a couple of weeks ago and chopped down some trees. I was just getting started with my hybrids and was terrified a new villager would move in on top of them so I put them on the beach out of the way. They took one of everything (I generally only had pairs) so I was left pretty furious. Gates have been closed since then while I work on the town. LOL

No, I've been spared from that stuff fortunately... only annoying people are on the island when you do random multiplayer and they chop like every tree and run around shouting stuff you don't get anyways
