Saving a Villager That is Already in Boxes?

So one of my favorite villagers Lucky is in boxes and I didn't even realize that he was moving until today. I really don't want him to leave my town, is there anything I can do or is it too late once a villager is in boxes?

No, you can't save them once their in boxes.
If you have a friend that plays Animal Crossing or a second town, you can get Lucky to move there by having their characters talk to him. Then once you complete the sixteen villager cycle you can move him back. However, I don't recommend this as it takes a while and there's always a chance he'll move out of the other town.
I think your best bet is to just let him go and get a new Lucky.

if you time travel day by day you can get through the cycle in a couple of days. but it's a lot more work than it seems. you have to introduce yourself to every new random move-in, make sure none of your permanent villagers are moving out, and skip to the next day.
or, you can just keep lucky in a close friend's town and visit him there. that's what i did with marcie, and my friend has no problem having her live in her town.
you can also just let the cycle occur naturally, but it will take a long time.
just do what you think has the best consequences for you

tbh this is so frustrating to me, i wish theyd bring back the feature of talking villagers out of boxes. itd make everything a lot less stressful

You could maybe give them to a friend that plays
