This isn't a very exciting post, but what the hey.

All I'm saying is, you should make sure to save your game frequently, especially before taking breaks or when playing online multiplayer.

Why? Well, multiplayer is an obvious one: the connection can drop. Obviously saving on the island is of inconvenience, but so is losing hours of whatever on earth were you doing.

Now, why on earth would you save before taking a break? Well, there are various reasons, like you might drop your DS at a funny angle, bumping the cartridge out. There is one reason though that isn't too obvious, which is on rare occasions the 3DS will not wake up from sleep mode so if you've not saved recently, you're kind of stuffed.

Yeah, firmware version 10.7.0-32E and this is still happening. Meh, I'd already saved though. :P

EDIT: Or don't save as something might go wrong whilst saving. :P
What a tricky predicament!

This so much. I've lost a lot of things on different games (even other consoles) because the platform would randomly crash or freeze. If I can, I always have all my games set to auto-save every once in awhile, since it drives me insane when I have to redo things in games because it randomly crashes or freezes.

another good reason to save is when your favorite villager requests to move and you accidentally choose to let them go and you wanna reset but you realized that you have done so much in the game already. happens to all people including me.

This! I was connecting with my boyfriend's sister and my sister yesterday, and I did my second character's hair and bought some stuff. Then after I got out of Shampoodle, I got the dreaded Resetti error. It happened more than once too. It was pretty lame.
