So I just got back from school and booted up ACNL, everything was fine until Isabelle started loading my town, when I received an error message stating 'An error has occurred. Hold down the POWER button to turn off the power, then turn it on and try again.' I tried it again and got the same error message. I'm reluctant to try it again because I'm worried I might corrupt my save file if it isn't corrupted already. Does anyone know what's going on?

Sounds like it might already be corrupted :/ I've never had my file corrupted before though so I dom't know for sure.

The weird thing is that when I boot up my game, it shows one of my villagers walking around my town like normal, and everything seems normal until I try to load my file.

Is it a physical copy of the game or a digital? If physical you may just need to eject the cart and see if there is any dust or dirty in the DS slot. I had this happen once and that was my issue, just a bit of dust in the actual DS from switching games a lot. If it's digital, IDK. :[

I hope your file doesn't corrupt :c

It's a digital copy, unfortunately. I just tried loading my file again, and this time it worked, but I'm worried my file still might corrupt because that seemed really strange.

I would just save and continue it a couple times! Hopefully creating solid, good saves, will overwrite whatever caused the game to do what it did. :c

Alright, thanks so much! It seems to be fine now, I'm guessing it was just a fluke.

I have no idea what could be wrong, I just want to say that I hope your town will be okay in the end! It's really weird that it worked again and then gave that message again though; there must be a reason.

Yeah, it seems like it occasionally loads my town but usually doesn't. The weird thing is that when Isabelle starts to load my town, the music continues to play for a few seconds and them just completely stops, then I get the error message.

Do you have a trustworthy friend? If so, I'd drop off a bunch of Bells and important things in their town to hold. I'm afraid your file may be corrupted and one of these times, it just won't load again. I'm thinking you might need to start over soon. :(

Yeah, I might do that. It's really annoying, I just started my town a month ago but I attained most of my dreamies and my town was coming along very well. I have no idea why it would corrupt, either. I never turn off the game while it's saving or do anything that would trigger it to corrupt, I time travel but I didn't think that causes your game to corrupt. I'm just kind of consfused.

If the worst happens, I'm sure there'll be plenty of nice people who will help you. I really hope everything's OK in the end.

Something I could maybe suggest is powering off your DS, taking out the SD card and leaving it for a little while. Put the SD card back in and try it again. It might not work, but it's worth a try, right?
