Salem: Halloween Town Planning

After several months I decided to finally start playing New Leaf again. I have been playing HHD for a while but have been seeing screenshots from people on tumblr of their cute New Leaf towns and what have you and just NEEDED to get back into it. So i started my Halloween town up and went back a whole year just to be safe and it was like I never left, my villagers all still there and all still my friends.

All of my villager houses are going to be on the thin lower section of my town that is cut off by the river and the top part will be pretty much empty besides the normal buildings like re-tail and stuff, basically it's gunna be like this:

the orange buildings are the villager houses, purple is the mayors witchy house, pink is re-tail, blue is town hall and of course the train station and the path to main st is at the top.

I think you should do something else. Like a playground or a park! I'm doing that right now since I have a large empty section of town. But if you're a HARDCORE Over the Garden Wall fan then I think you should. Do something creative!

A park would be cool but it wouldn't be too halloweeny, i'm trying to think of something to do that still sticks with Halloween theme, and with the OTGW I was thinking of doing a small cemetery so I might still do a small bit as a cemetery with little skeletons to big up or something but I don't want it to take a huge space cause that'd be silly.

My river is... it perfectly borders my house and bisects the top and bottom sections of land. I'll try to get an actually screenie of it tomorrow.

Maybe put in a spooky graveyard? Or a maze using bushes, and have pitfalls and bones in it. Or maybe a couple of face cutouts with a Halloween theme.

Those are good ideas. You're literally the best with these ideas I swear, all your towns are amazing. <3 Like the ice skating rink and stuff so genius!

I plan to move out the three houses on the side and get new villagers down at the bottom with the others, and the house over there was Wirt's but it is empty still and only the one room so I haven't invested time in it or anything so I wouldn't be hurt destroying it. If I do scrap the whole OTGW thing I'll probably make a spooky house with the villager being a ghost or something but idk what the other houses would be...

I also made a list of costumes in game so I can have some out for people to pick from, so what are some of your fave costumes? I also think maybe I'll make like a costume shop with one of the buildings maybe?

I definitely will! I planned out a maze but it's gunna take 130 bushes! I followed the 12 rule too so hopefully if I find a good place for it I'll be able to do it, I don't know if your town only allows you to plant so many in an area though...

Alright, so I think for my three "other" houses I'll do one as a costume store, one as a spooky haunted house, and the last one maybe as the candy house from hansel and gretel? I wont be able to do those until I get the three other villagers moved into the bottom so I'll be able to get them down there with plot resetting.

(Working on planning so I'm trying to figure stuff out, that's why I'm posting a gajillion times)
So I think I am going to make a woodsie area on the far side by the right cliff and have the two "bad/spooky" houses out there with lots of trees and stuff but then I don't know where to put the costume shop cause I kind of want it to be near where the people who visit the dream town will enter but there isn't ton of room in that area cause the town hall is right above the plaza and stuff... so IDK where to put it at.

I already have lots of spooky trees growing in that area I just wish their branches were longer because they remind me of joshua trees XD

Also did some work on my maze, laid down paths where the bushes are gunna go and planted my collection of bushes I had so far. Probably going to buy a ton of bushes so I can get them in on my days off. Bushes prevent people from moving there right?

Yeah I am going to have a few out for people to choose from as well as other gifts like bubbles glow sticks and maybe throwing beans

Also if anybody wants a place to "design" or blueprint out their houses while designing here's a template I made to do so on.
It's the six rooms at 8x8 so you can draw in what you want where. I've used this to design my houses in previous towns and it's really helpful. I print them out and then make notes on the back of what I'm using =D

The grey boxes are where the "doors" or entrance points are.
Going to be using this tonight to start planning my mayors house and my costume store

OH and also working on my bush maze and there are some spots that the bushes just wont grow! They aren't in a chain over 12 but they still wont so there will be some "holes" in the maze. Maybe I'll just put pitfalls there... HMMM.

While working on my house just now I realized I didn't mark the entrance on the front room so block out the middle two boxes on the front room as well XD DERP

For the outside area, I think having the Scarecrow PWP would look great there with a pumpkin patch? I've seen QR codes for pumpkin patches that look neat. Maybe surround it with fruit trees like apples to suit the season? Or maybe make a Halloween face-standee?

I also like the Costume Shop idea. You could implement all kinds of outfits. Maybe have each room in that house go into themes like Kids, Cute, Scary, etc. I'd make the basement for Adults with provocative outfits or scary ones haha.

Either way, good luck on it! I'd love to visit once it's done.
