Safe mode of placing a new villagers homestead

I remember reading about how to do this so that their home lands in a good spot (my lat adoptee that moved in her house ended up being right in front of a bridge, so that it was not usable), but I cannot find that info.

Will someone tell me how to do this safely? I do not want to loose a dreamie

If you asked them to move in from either someone else's town or the campsite, the next day, their plot will appear in your town.
On that day, people make a new character because if you load your mayor, it will be saved for the day, locking in any plots/pings/special visitors.
If their house is in a bad spot, quit and try again. Resetti won't yell at you for it. Once you're satisfied with the house placement, go to Isabelle, etc etc as if you were making an alt character. Save and quit when you are able to, load up the new character, delete their house, and load up your mayor.
