Review and rate Harvest Moon: A new Beginning 3ds

I'm gonna bump this thread, I'm wondering the same thing but I've never played it! Wondering if I should get the game lol

I loved this game! It was so much better than ToTT and there are a lot of new features.

I'm not very good at reviews but I'll try anyway.

I'm not going to lie, the first month is boring. Not much happens until the end of the month when a few people start moving back to the village. Your goal in this game (besides getting married/farming) is to build houses and decorate the town so that more people and potential spouses can come back to the town and add variety to your daily routine.

There are contest every month that are optional but are a lot of fun. On certain festivals you can even choose the guy/girl you go with! There are new animals, a very diverse set of potential spouses, new crops, tool upgrades, farm upgrades, town upgrades, clothing customization, haircuts and more!

After the first month there is so much to do that you will be enjoying the game for a long time. I highly recommend this game!

I haven't played it in a very long time, but it was enjoyable. I did find the farmwork to be tedious at times, but I'm just a lazy person. I am looking forward to the next release of HM, that's for sure! :)

I'm a really big fan of Harvest Moon, but honestly, I thought ANB was one of the least interesting ones. If it helps, I'm in Spring of Year 3, I've been married to Neil for about a week, and I completed the last TRP shortly before that.

I actually had fun with the game until I got to the last 2 TRPs. Unlocking everyone and everything was really pretty fun, as was getting to know them and seeing all the heart events. I started getting bored pretty early, though, and usually I can barely put HM games down, but since NL and Pok?mon XY were released around the same time, I kept leaving ANB for those, even after I'd mostly finished them. I think I ended up having to force myself to work through the last 2 TRPs.

One of the bigger problems I had, too, was the courtship system in ANB. I wanted to meet all of the bachelors before I decided on who to give the commitment ring to, so by the time I'd gotten through with Amir and Soseki's events, I had everyone else at red and pink flowers, mostly from the festivals. Even after that, I had trouble deciding, since you can't really find out much from 2 heart events, but I ended up choosing Neil. Even though he's a cutie in his pre-relationship events, he turns out to be horrible in some ways afterwards, but since you need a purple heart to break up, I was sort of stuck, so I ended up marrying him.

I haven't really had to deal with it yet, but I also think it's sort of ridiculous how many animals you can own. I have a full chicken coop and a full barn, and it takes up quite a bit of my energy with just those 2. I know you can use multiplayer to take care of your animals, but I'm usually not at home when I play, so it's sort of a thing where you have to choose between being able to play your game away from home or having a super efficient farm.

I'm hoping for more from CtaNW, but I dunno, maybe it was just that playthrough. I might try to attempt making a second file in the future so I can give it another chance.

Thanks for your detailed post burumun

I am one to get hooked on the old harvest moon games as well but with Pokemon and animal crossing it's a really hard decision if I should start to play this game or not

Yeah, there's a lot to do in the game. There are some small things that are irritating, such as cutscenes that play everytime the animal shop opens, or your pets do their herding duties. You can avoid them by avoiding the area for the 15 minute window in which they occur, but it's still stupid.

cutscenes are mostly stupid :/

I am torn on it, I love the direction they are going but there is a lot to be improved.
like said above me, the cutscenes are annoying. I think the 3d spirtes can be improved, I would love a wider range of dialogue and bachelors, they seem to rehash the same old types every one lol It still has HM feel but it's just lacking for me.

I've never played any of the previous HM games so can't compare it! But I got it a couple of months ago and was bored of it within a couple of weeks. The first month is annoying, but you can speed through it pretty quickly. I think I need to give it a go again and unlock some more things, hopefully it'll get more interesting.

Thank you kalaa for your description as well very helpful^.^
One aspect of the game I liked was the eligible bachelors lol but it seems like the relationships are boring
Is this game just a bore!?
Are the animals fun

Milly I hope u keep posted if u end up playing more lol

ah I am so undecided on whether to get this game, too. I hear mixed things about it. Some people love it, and some people think it's boring. I've played HM games in the past, and enjoyed them. I guess my issue is that I WANT to get it, but I keep seeing people say it's boring, so it keeps me from actually getting it >_>

I've never played a Rune Factory game, but I've heard that they're similar. So I've been thinking of trying one of those too.

I've been thinking about Rune Factory as well! It sounds better than HM, I wish I could try a demo or something though. My friend has it and says it's really great.

Rune Factory 4 is so addicting. Personally I enjoyed it more than I enjoyed the latest Harvest Moon game. ^^;

U can get a girlfriend and boyfriend in rune factory whaaaaat but which game is cuterr?!?!?!?!!!

Personally, I prefer RF4 to be more interesting. The characters change their dialogue every day, compared to the characters in HM. HM has also never made me cry... twice. >_>

I didn't even know there was a Harvest Moon for the 3Ds omg
I stopped playing Harvest Moon when I got my first and only copy for the GBA(Friends of Mineral Town) and I put so much time into it and I was about to get married in-game atleast I thought I was but I didn't meet one of the requirements or something idk all I know was I was not going to start over the whole game and boost Popuri's affection meter and make all that $$$ again.

Harvest moon a new beginning was epic but I prefered the older ds ones like cute and ioh etc. I have played almost all of the games and anb was a big improvement, but connect to a new world seems 10x better but I doubt its gonna be out for the best part of 2 years, so I think anb is worth a buy, but I cant compare it to the new rune factory as it was cancelled for Europe :(

A new beginning is definitely a step forward from old harvest moon games, i love the whole aspect of buying blue prints then collecting the items to make them, over all it deserves an 8 out of 10 from me c:

come 2 think of it i got addicted to harvest moon save the homeland for ps2 and i saved the homeland but i was never able to get a girl like i wanted lol its pretty hard... but honestly could play that game right now again!!!!!
