Everyone trying to sell items at a lower rate than average kind of took the fun out of retail. When I first joined, Sanrio sets went for 100-150tbt a piece and unorderable sets went for 75-100tbt. Nowadays, it's not hard to get a Sanrio or an unorderable set for 40tbt. The other day I saw a Fueki set(just released) go for 50tbt and an ice set for 20tbt. Anyone else feel this way? : /

I don't know where else to stick this thread

No, I never thought expensive prices made something fun :P Did you prefer that they were harder to acquire? You could just get them the way the game intended you to get them, for example, get the ice set from catching snowflakes (that's how I do it for those things). For sets that it would have been impossible for you to get such as DLC's or furniture from RV's that you don't have amiibo cards for, etc, I believe it's good that people are charging reasonable prices for it rather than making it incredibly expensive so that people who aren't as active on this forum and have very few tbt can't afford them. This means that everyone can enjoy it, and to me, that actually makes it much more fun, than making it expensive and hard to afford. :) That's just my point of view though.

I feel like it's a bad thing because I could make more tbt posting than trading.
>"Did you prefer that they were harder to acquire?"
Actually, yes. It gave me more motivation to collect the items myself and sell them. Even then, it still wasn't hard to get them. You could easily get ahold of them through selling hybrids in bulk amounts or simply visiting RVs yourself. I'm surprised the tbt to IGB exchange hasn't changed yet, especially since the price for everything else has been cut in half.

Then if you like the challenge of getting the items, just get them in-game or put in the time and money into getting the amiibo cards that you want and don't buy anything from the shops. The great thing about it is that you have the freedom to choose how to get your items and it isn't necessarily easier unless you choose for it to be so. And although you can make tbt from posting, some people don't have much to say on the forums. They might choose to make their tbt from opening shops instead, and shops that sell for reasonable prices earn more because they have more customers, rather than a shop that sells for a crazy amount but will have very few customers. It also benefits the community, since like I said, not everyone is as active on the forums to earn hundreds or thousands of bells.

So just don't use the shops if it's ruining your fun, and get your items the way the game wants you to. In fact, buying from a shop with expensive prices is still easier than the in-game way of acquiring things. :P

It doesn't. What happens is the offtopic boards receive a lot of godawful threads. If I wasn't so lazy, I wouldn't even touch those boards.

I meant the shops benefit the community. It lets people find the items they need/want. I just don't really see how cheap prices affect your enjoyment of the game negatively. If you find that it's too easy to acquire items in shops, simply get them normally in-game instead of buying them here. And it seems that there are some people who enjoy talking about those topics and no one is forcing you to click them. This is a welcoming community so if they want to talk about Harry Potter houses, or body modification, then they should be allowed to do so. I don't mean to be antagonising, I just don't understand your complaints. Sorry :(

It sounds greedy but I enjoy being able to get rare sets for cheaper. That way I won't be left out. However, it's bad for those people selling them. So I understand your point.

Yeah, I love low prices when I'm the one buying, but I don't even want to bother acquiring rare items to sell because today's prices are too cheap for all the effort I put in.

That's just what happens when there's more sellers/hackers then they try to undercut each other. Idrc bc it helps me get gardening stuff easier. It's unfair to people who sell legitimately though.

I think you took me too seriously. I'm just slightly disappointed by the forums is all, especially since post quality is a rule.

Yeah, I don't bother selling rare items anymore. I'll still do bulk hybrid deliveries though. I haven't been here long. What were prices like in November and December?

There's so many users I suspect are hackers. I really wish there was a way to check if items are hacked or not.

Edit: I'm starting to see Sanrio and unorderable sets going for 25tbt and Fueki sets for 40tbt : s

"Post quality" has nothing to do with those discussions, they're perfectly valid for the board they're under. General discussion is meant for topics of that variety, it can be anything unrelated to AC as long as posts are relevant to the topic at hand and users are well-conducted in their discussions. A post quality infraction would more likely pertain to an irrelevant comment, derailing a thread and generally posting something that is not constructive to the discussion (such as a video or image response with no context).

As for prices in November/December, they were higher for the sets you're inquiring about because they were brand new and on high demand at the time. Sanrio items hadn't circulated the community very long back then, and being so difficult to get a hold of, many people wanted them. Now that people have been importing cards and obviously hackers have been selling sets, the demand for these items is far lower now than it was back then, so naturally prices will decrease as providers will try to undercut each other to attract more sales.

If you're looking for ways to sell these items at a consistent rate then you may have better luck selling RV visits rather than the item sets, though this is only an option if you have the cards. I haven't checked the Re-Tail board in a while but it was rare to see free RV visits at the time, that may have changed now. I've never really found selling items to be profitable on TBT in general, unless you take advantage of new items that aren't available yet. An example would be what happened with the white festive tree before Christmas; no one knew how to obtain it during the holiday season before it was announced for JP/NA, but hackers were able to exploit the high demand for them and sell them at upwards of 100 TBT. It was ridiculous at the time, and many users who took advantage of that have actually disappeared, I'm guessing because it was very clear that they had gained the item through "illegal" means on this forum. Now we're so far into the patch that it's unlikely that another opportunity like this will arise, most items have been discovered and are of equal rarity to pre-WA items.

I haven't been on this website long, but from an economic viewpoint it seems to be experiencing inflation. Keep in mind there is not a fixed about of TBT circulating. it's true that getting large amounts comes from selling something, but you can also earn TBT by posting and voting in polls, so new "money" is being created constantly.

Couple that with the fact that someone at some time probably had a rare item/set and didn't care much for it so they dropped the prices to get rid of it. When other sellers noticed that the rare item/set was sold for that price and most likely bought pretty quickly, everyone started lowering their prices.

Collectibles seem to have the same value, though, which is probably the only thing keeping TBT at the same value as it was a few years ago. But it is true that the value of TBT compared to IGB should be lower, I don't think 1 TBT is 200K IGB anymore. I'm not sure what exactly it WOULD be, but since bells in ACNL are way easier to come by than TBT by a huge margin, i don't think it will ever become a 1-to-1 ratio.

That still doesn't change the fact that those threads are awful. I'm aware those threads technically don't break that rule. I just find it a bit sad that post quality is a rule and those threads exist.

Selling hybrids in bulk order still is. You can make 100tbt in an hour doing that.

I think you have inflation and deflation mixed up.

whoops, my bad, got it confused with america's economy. THAT'S inflation, lol.

Well that's subjective. I wouldn't say the threads are awful, far from it, just they don't appeal to your taste, and why should they? There's bound to be content that you can't offer any input on simply because that forum section is so broad, I don't see why that's an issue to you. I personally am not fond of the political threads since I don't participate in the discussion, that doesn't necessarily make the threads "awful", I'd just rather read responses than comment. They still offer entertainment in a way, but they're not for everyone.

If you have the time to breed hybrids and open up shop selling them, then yes, that is profitable if you think it's worth the time investment.

I mean thread quality is a whole is subjective

and no, I don't mean "needs to be an actual topic that can garner discussion" forum rules thread quality, but quality of the topic of discussion

I think it's nicer that there are lower prices, I mean if I had the means I would just give stuff away, for the RV's I am trying to let people come over for free so they can get the items they really want with their own meow coupons, cause I'd honestly feel bad selling them for TBT. I mean like a year ago I was buying hacked villagers for like 200tbt or something which to me was a ton. I mean sure selling things for TBT is a big part of the site because of collectibles and stuff but I like when people are more kind and will give things away or sell them for cheap because it makes them easier to obtain which is always nice.

My sentiment exactly. It let's all those items become available to more people and helps them out. If they were sold at exorbitant prices, then it would be incredibly exclusive to those that are extremely active on the forums, and tough luck for those that aren't since they won't be able to afford it. I don't think that's fair. I like that people aren't greedy and overprice everything. That's what truly wouldn't be fun :( In my opinion, anyway.

"when i joined" "nowadays" bruh you joined less than a month ago

unorderable sets went for much lower than 75 tbt in 2015 or wheneber when i used to trade.. /: like more around 30 tbt ...

and w/ the amiibo function, hacking and everything else it is not weird that unorderables arent super expensive. people can get them pretty easily. i dont get why it matters that much, the acnl "market" has been weird for a long time, people have had ridiculous amounts of igb for yrs because theyve played a lot.
if the fun in retail for u is in earning lots of tbt and u get mad when other people sell items for a lower price than u do maybe u should stop. make tbt from drawing ugly art like everyone else who wants a lot of tbt
