Ik alot of people are into hopping from island to island to find their dream villager. But with 391 villagers, that doesn't sound too effective. How has it worked for you guys? any tips would be appreciated!

I'm using those islands for gold and iron farming.

I only had luck once using 5 NMT to find Sherb. I didn’t expect to find him and I did. Usually when I have more tickets to use I never find the right villager

I've found Judy, Raymond and Audie on NMT tours.. I do consider myself luck but then again, I've went through about 600 tickets total...

I found Judy fast, she was my 1st find and she was on like ticket 120... Raymond took about 280 and Audi took about 110.. Sherb was a campsite visitor... All my other villagers were amiibo card scan in's...

I found Audie on a mystery island!
Plus I've found all the octopi multiple times. I've found Fauna twice, Fang, Sherb, Bob, Dom, and loads of others, however I only have three dreamies and I found one of my dreamies!!!

Island-hopping for villagers is extremely effective if you aren't restricting yourself to a strict set of villagers. I've gone hopping with no expectations and never spent more than 4-5 tickets before I found someone I was happy to invite to my island.

I mostly use the islands for bug hunting.

Well, it’s just pure luck. I actually found Villagers which have moved out before and a lot of repeats. Also certain Villagers Species like Hippos, Pigs and Ducks appeared more often. I’m just looking for villagers I like or find cool (Hopper) or just think are worth a lot (Marshal) and then get their Pictures and trade them later.

My search for an good Uchi Villager is not over yet. But otherwise I enjoy my Money Rock Islands.

@AndyP08 Same. With more tickets I find more (bad) Villagers. Not even unique ones, which might have someone who would be a fan of this one. Just forgetful ones like Curly.

I find a lot of "popular" villagers on islands but usually never the ones I want lol. I did find Judy on an island though.

I always seem to find Angus and his big, empty eyes stare into my soul. I run quickly back to Wilbur.

286 Islands for Beau, I’m going on “The Hunt Volume 2” in the coming days and will log everything again. I want one of 6 this time so I’m hoping to find one a bit quicker than 17 hours of straight play

In my recent ventures I found Octavian twice, and other noteworthy ones I found were Marina, Fang, Flurry, Apple, and Molly. I found Rosie a different time. I've found Diana before. Problem is I have all their amiibos, so I'm like mehh if I really wanted you, I could just scan you in...

Islands roll the species first, then the villager. So the villager you want won't be a simple "1 in 391".

There are 35 species, so if you are looking for a certain octopus, you have a 1 in 105 chance (35 x3), if you are looking for a certain cat, it becomes 1 in 805 (35x23). This also means your chance of getting a villager on Mystery Islands increases the more of that species you already have on your island.

Oh really, that’s actually really helpful to know! I noticed that I actually got Judy and I have Kody.

I've come to the realization that Mystery Island works for me when I'm finding villagers for other people. I've found Cyd, Sherb, Raymond, and Megan relatively fast. Also, when I found those villagers I had less than 20 tickets. I found Cyd on the 1st ticket. A few days later I found Sherb on the 3rd. Then Raymond on the 9th and Megan on the 16th I believe. However, I've been hunting for Judy with no luck. I can't decide if I should attempt to hunt some more or try the campsite trick.

I really hope you find Judy somehow

It’s effective only in such a way that you avoid random move ins. For me, the mindset is when I go to tours, I’m only there to find a villager of a personality I need that I don’t hate. Any decent villager will do. If I land a dreamie, that’s a bonus. If I don’t, that’s okay. At least it’s not some rando I might despise. For specific dreamies, I use the campsite trick as it is more efficient.
