What is everyone's opinions about them ?

I have one in my main town and love it. but now that I'm starting to build pwps I'm finding that I may not love it so much.

ignore the house next to where I'm standing. as much as I love Mira I'm gonna have to move her out. unless I decide to rebuild my residential area.

basically it's like the south part of my town has an orchard to the very left and I'm finding everything to the right up until the bridge is empty. I've thought of maybe making like a zen themed area there but haven't decided yet.

or I was thinking of keeping the houses that are plotted along the cliff (all my wolves<3) then letting go my squirrels which are the 3 houses aligned vertically on the other side. then maybe making a second residential area in the empty south part. OR aligning next to Mira's house (only way I could keep her which I really want)

lol. so many options and i cant decide so figure I would ask others if you prefer one main residential area, or maybe two smaller ones, or are houses just plotted everywhere throughout your town? opinions would greatly help me decide what to do with my layout ^^

I don't have specific areas for residential but what to do with the large empty area is quite a challenge, maybe..

1. Build a park? you can arrange bushes/trees as the hedge in a rectangular form and then put pwps in the middle (benches, statue, park clock, etc)
2. A Hot Spring Inn? you can build hot spring pwp (especially near the waterfall because imagine enjoying hotspring with waterfall as the background music lol) and decorate the surrounding with bamboos, make it really gives out the chill effect. And if you want, you can make a character house nearby and make it a Hot Spring Inn!
3. Bamboo farm? you can plant bamboo and leave some space in the surrounding so you can harvest the shoot and sell it for profit =p
4. Hybrids orchard? you can do the experiment of combining different colors of hybrids and make it beautiful and a pleasure for the eyes to see ;D

That's what I can think of for the moment, hopefully it'll help you to consider what to do with your layout :D

thats funny you mention the hot spring ! I built one there earlier today haha. and put bamboo around it. I LOVE your idea of putting my second house there omg I've been needing a place to put one & thas perfect. Thank you so much for your ideas !

All my animals are around but the up part of my river I don't want it I don't want them down
And down I made a beautiful rainbow rose
Also my the house for my pictures and gyroids are there
With a beautiful garden and later on a path way made of gold roses to enter there and get to the house

And close to my dock I put a beautiful fountain with my perfect peaches and yellow roses

You're welcome! Goodluck with the hot spring <3 Let me visit your DA when everything's set :)

I agree! Visited your DA once and yesss, your rainbow rose is beautifully done!!! <3

I kind of have a residential area... but silly Marshal plotted on the other side of town, then Erik next to him and Stitches is randomly behind Retail... but that was before I learned to plot reset and they are never leaving so they are the exceptions to my rule... but I do love my residential area and there really wasn't that much extra space... I have a fruit orchard, a small wild forest, a lighthouse and a perfect pear orchard... other than that, random PWP's :) DA is in sig *shameless DA plug*

In one of my towns, I have two residential areas, and two loners at the top of the map. In Rumble (the bear town) I managed to plot reset as many of the villagers at the bottom of the map.

I love the idea of a neighborhood, love love love the concept, but houses take up so much room and PWPs are so hard to build around houses.

I don't plot my villagers, but sometimes I wish I had, lol. I do LOVE your set-up!

Why thank you very much but now I'm gonna change the white roses for Jacob ladder and white roses will be like clouds

I was going to attempt this when choosing my new "perfect map" little knowing how many many rocks there were personally I think you should be able to see rocks on maps like ponds as they are permanent structures...but I wanted everyone upper but then realized not enough PWP space for coffee shop and station and fun stuff below..and then when found one with everyone below it was packed with all one beach exits and bridges blocked..no good house spot. So I settled on one house near a large part of the river below and rest in a line on left top near side beach then Cranston snuck in he stayed upper but near where I wanted a bridge but I'm trying to keep space for pwps but also space away from my home and my wooded section below. Oh maps..I don't think there is a perfect one..

I have a residential area at the bottom half of my town. They are all in a straight line. I can only fit 6 of them on the bottom half. So, I decided to put the other 4 near the bottom half of my town in another residential area. So, I have two residential areas and I like how it turned out. There's one problem I don't like and it's that my villagers are in one spot and they like to stay around that spot. Once in awhile, I'll find them on the opposite side of the map. But for my second town, I'm planning on doing 5 residential spots for 2 villagers all over my map so there's villagers everywhere. Anyway, a zen theme in the area you're conflicted about it not a bad idea. I like it.

I haven't done any residential areas but I do like how you've placed yours.
I've kind of done one side of my map as the main area - this is where the majority of my villagers houses are, all the paths, etc.
The other side I'm trying to turn into like a woodland/forest area. I placed the cafe there and the more scenic and environmental PWP's.

I do have a couple of houses on that side and retail. It fits quite well because I have Erik and Whitney on that side and they kind of for with all the trees :-)
My map layout is nowhere near as good as yours but when I first started I didn't pay much attention and now I've done way too much to start over.

A zen area sounds great, actually i'm wanting to do something similar. The zen stuff is going in my forest area and my fairytale stuff is going in the main town area.

Hope you can kind of visualise what I'm talking about! :-)
Good luck with whatever you decide to do!

wrote down the DA so I can visit later ^^ I love dreaming of towns!

Yeah I reallllllly wish rocks would show on the map. At least when Rover first shows you it. I have two rocks by town hall, two near retail and two by my coffee shop. I kinda like how they're grouped together, cause then I have more flexibility in all my other areas. but it gets tedious with paths, etc.

yes!! completely agree with how all the villagers stay around that one area. What I really hate is how they aren't even in my residential area, they LOVE to hang around my house. Since the bridge is right in the middle, they just come on over. Initially I chose that area for my house so I could have my own private spot in the bend of the river, but nopeee, aint happening.

Yeah my first map was horrible, when I first started playing and didn't know much about good layouts.
My town is forest themed with some fairytale mixed in so I can definitely visualize what you're talking about haha xD thank you !

I've seen a map where all the houses were aligned at the bottom, I thought it was pretty cool.
