So I decided to reset my town a few days ago and I have some very specific qualities for my new town:
-Blue Train Station
-Blue Town Hall
-Apples, Cherries, or Peaches for native fruit
-South Facing waterfall
-Circle grass
-A carved out nook area for my home

I have reset about 500 times over the past few days and still don't have my perfect town yet. :( Am I crazy for wanting all of these things? My friends are teasing me to "pick a town already" but I want it to be one I am 100% happy with so I don't have to start over again. Anyone else had to start over a whole bunch and finally got their perfect town? Or is anyone doing what I am doing? I am getting frustrated and feel like a crazy perfectionist!

I sort of tried to did this when I got the game. I just wanted a nice looking bunch of villagers, btw this was my first introduction to the word of animal crossing and I got very lucky without even knowing it at first (THANK YOU GAME!). I am happy because it was random! I only did it for about 2 hours. Just take your time, you'll find it. I know other people do it, your not crazy. ;)

I reset for about 30min for the 'perfect' map. I don't have very high requirements, all I wanted was the river facing south. While I was resetting I reminded myself AC is a game for you to relax, not to get stressed on. Good luck getting your dream map :)

I reset 3 days for the perfect map...it never showed up lol...eventually I settled for a map that had my favorite fruit Cherries and an okay town layout...but now I'm resetting it...yep

I was idly trying to figure out the odds of this because I'm a huge nerd.

3/5 chance of getting the right (or a passable) fruit
1/4 chance of getting the right town hall
1/4 chance of getting the right train station
1/6 chance of getting the right grass

My math might be a bit shaky because I was never the best at probability but it looks to me like it's already about a 1/100 chance of you getting all of those together.

Adding on south facing waterfall plua a "nook" - I'm assuming by "nook" you mean a river loop. I was just looking at the image with all the map options and that's probably going to cut out 2/3 of available maps. In that case you have about a 1/300 chance of getting your ideal town. Maybe it's time to compromise a bit? :)

I'm not resetting again because my new motivation is to create the most glorious town ever and catch up to everyone who's on the Dream Suite. If domething's off, I've just learned to deal with it and move on. Also all the play coins I've spent collecting Nintendo items from fortune cookies....ahhh can't bare to reset again and lose all that for nothing!

I once was like you...tried to play the game perfectly...but that got me no where :( so try to forget about perfection and just play the game casually. You'll learn to love it as you build on to it.

to me, the game is more about making the best of what you have and trying to improve over time instead of starting out with the perfect map/fruit/characters.

the list of things you want is rather long - maybe try to focus on one or two things that are the most important to you and try to work the the "imperfect" rest the best you can?

All I want is like not a bad horizontal water fall so you don't get too much space below it, I hate when you get a long piece o fland with like five villager plot in one row :/

My town has all of your requirements (except the "nook" for your house)... I was only idly resetting while doing other stuff; it might've been a few hours? Just keep yourself occupied and you'll get what you want eventually. :)

I'm really picky as well OP. I've had my game sine Dec 20 and I keep resetting because I want a brown train station, brown town hall, peaches, and a nice layout with one pond and cute villagers,,

Life is not about perfection but turning the imperfection to perfect. I just visited other's town via dream suit and the word "town reset" cross my mind. I sort of start wondering..."why people have such a nice layout town with nice ocean and nice landscape". Basically everything look nice to me! But then, whatever it is, my town is my town whether I have a perfect map or villagers or not, at the end it is still me playing =) It take times and effort to build up a perfect town not from the beginning of choosing a good map and villagers and so on (although I insisting of having peaches for my town~).

I only reset once. I have 2 games. My first town had pears. When I started my second town it also had pears. I had to put up with both of my WW towns having pears, I wasn't going to do that again expecially with non-native perfect fruit selling for so much. Except for different fruits, I wanted the lower waterfall facing south, no private beach and Re-tail fairly close to the dock and not too far from the train station. Other than that I didn't care. Nothing can ever be perfect.

While I can agree that it takes time to get used to one layouts but my last one was just mean. Dude I don't need 5 houses in a row beneath the river and I can't check them on easily.

I'm not new to the AC games but am to new leaf and I got my perfect town on the 1st go .... well my perfect town is beach's with lots of room and a south facing river lol I'm rubbish like that

I wish I had your patience Melody xD I only resetted once or twice on my second ACNL game and then I got tired of it (wanted a nice river and all xD) you're not crazy and I wish you to get it soon :) when you have your perfect town, may I come see it? :)

Been mostly resetting for good villagers and not a crappy layout so it takes.. sometime twice the time haha
