Resetting. Can I drop off items in someone's town?

Alright, so I finally get to reset my town. I'll need to keep my items in someone's town for a while though. It'll hopefully take me no longer than one hour to get my town set up and stuff. Yes, you can drop things on the ground. It may take me a while with my money though.
