Replacing villager's furnitures

Benjamin has just asked for me to replace his Sloppy sofa. Does this mean that I have a chance to get his sofa in the future (whether it be through a gift for an errand or up on re-tail) or is it just lost forever? I have never gotten a villager's original furniture through errands before.

Often if you give them the replacement furniture when they're at home, they'll give you the thing that's being replaced. So if I were you, I'd save & quit until you get Benjamin to be in his house and then give him whatever it is you're giving him. Good luck

I also recommend doing what Abnaxus said. I actually had Marshal asking me to get him something so he can replace his sloppy chair, I kept ignoring his request so it would stay there. Next thing I know, it was gone and now it's lost It's been a few months (in-game), and he never gave it to me nor did I find it in the re-tail or police station. So yeah, I regret not doing that for him Anyway, good luck!

oh damn, i was too late. But either way, I hope he somehow puts it up for re-tail or gift it to you or something!! What did he give you in return?

I do find some of their furniture over at re-tail, but, I've been trying to get Merengue's sweet furniture for a while by giving her replacements and she never gives up on it. I only find my furniture that I gift her at re-tail or some other random stuff and when she presents me with gifts, it's anything BUT the sweets furniture.
