Nintendo let out a press release in japan that they were working on fixing it. You are able to reset the game if you wish and play with no problem, though if you dont want to lose progress you can wait until the fix comes out and your save will be restored.

From what I've seen from people talking and testing it is that since the world Is still on a large grid just like the old pokemon games, when you save next to certain objects like the Taxi's, Skiddos. They are occupying only parts of a full block, so when you step into their block and save the game will try to spawn you back onto that occupied block, so your character will see some of the graphics in the game, but be unable to move and essentially you become trapped inside the object and the game freezes.
To avoid this you should save in the pokecenter or cafe's while they are fixing the issue, and since this has happened once already I'd avoid saving near items that are smaller than the grid tiles for fear of having your character locked inside objects. The fix they are going to implement will probably either push you out of objects or bump you to the nearest pokecenter I am thinking.
Don't be like the ragers and smash your game though, it isnt broken its just glitched! Glitches can be fixed!
