So, I've been working on my island a bit more than usual lately, and I've slowly been coming to terms that I'm just not happy with my current plans and I am greatly considering redoing the entire island, but it comes with a pretty huge issue.

That issue is, the way I choose (and prefer) to play: time-travel free. Because of this, 'erasing' work takes literally days. I have to relocate 10 houses, my own player's house, delete 8 inclines, delete 3 bridges and relocate three facilities. That's 25 (I think, quick math is hard lol) days. Not to mention putting everything back.

My question is directed to those who also play like me, but the question is: would it be wrong of me to time-travel to speed up the relocating process despite it 'advancing' certain things in the game? And to everyone else who doesn't mind time-travelling, what do you think I should do? I genuinely don't mind waiting 25 days, but I just want some opinions, but.. I dunno.

On a side note, do NOT turn this thread into a time-travel purist-or-whatever debate like other threads have ended up as. I will lock this thread without hesitation if you guys do end up arguing over time-travel. Seriously, just don't.. please. I just want straightforward opinions on what I should do.

You can remove an incline or bridge at the same time as moving a building but if you have to replace them it will still take you 22 days (since you have a total of 11). The houses may take longer depending on how you go about it. I don’t personally time travel to speed it up since it’s less to do on the next day but if you are in a rush to redecorate then I don’t see a problem with it. Your visitors will reset if you hit a Sunday though if you’re concerned about that.

I actually did something like this! My original island was more “modern” and I started to dislike it.. so I decided to redo the whole island and went through the same dilemma

I was TT free up until then but I decided it wasn’t worth waiting that extra month to be able to redesign my island. Also, it wasn’t “fun” for me to look at my island and not be able to really do anything about it so I TT’ed until I got everything moved. I was never against TT though so it wasn’t too big of a deal for me

I personally think you could speed this up with TT and just... Don't collect the recipes, don't look in the shops, don't talk to your villagers (to gain friendship), don't talk to NPCs, and just go back when you're done?

Yeah.. I like my islands current flow but I'm noticing a lot of design flaws and I can't really figure out a way to 'fix' it without just redoing the entire thing. Hence this thread, I'm just unsure of myself.

When I first started moving all of my villager houses I did it without time traveling. However, when I realized that all of them were a space off, I got really frustrated and just time traveled.

I feel like it can be off putting when you have a vision for an area, but you can't do anything for a while week since you have to move buildings around. I say go ahead and just move the buildings and do nothing else.

Personally, if you don't want to time-travel, I wouldn't start. Because you might go "oh, I TTed before, it's fine if I do it again" and then be unhappy with the result.

I would plan out your exact layout (you can do it in-game or use one of the tools) and slowly chip away at it so that you don't have to move things more than once or think "oh crap, I needed that house one space to the left"

if you want to plan out in game, I recommend leaving the space that you want the house to be blank (ie leave a 4x4 blank space for a house) surrounded by pathing or flowers or whatnot so you can place buildings without issue.

(also I don't think you can lock threads yourself in discussion boards, might have to ask a mod to do it for you)

I'm not really in a rush, I still have a lot of thought and designing to do. It's just.. that's still a long time before I can do anything?

This is part of the reason I won’t do it. I’ve only time traveled to get my original sisterly back from my best friend. It is difficult to resist sometimes.

Well, I've come to my descision, for now. I'll choose to not time-travel and relocate everything in real time for now but if the situation calls for it, I will time travel a few times to speed it up a few days.

This is basically much what I do when I redesign my island and TT. I only focus on decorating and just that. I pretty much ignore everything else.

I'd say, work on a few sections at a time while you get incline/bridges/villagers out of the way. That's how I've been doing it, working on planning out one section while I clear out the next one, but if the section you're currently working on has things in the way, go ahead and TT them out of the way and go back to moving the rest of them daily.

I TT and you should play however you want. If you want to go completely TT free, don't :)

My issue is I don't work at my fullest potential when I do it in bits, I work a lot better when I do a lot in a sitting. I focus way more.

Quick note with time travel, each new day counts as towards the nook mile achievement for playing for 300 days. So if you care about that time stamp, don't time travel. Cause I started in the end of March and I said I got the 300 in August cause of time travel

I approach the game similarly to you, I am not for or against time traveling, it's just something I've never done before. I definitely feel the pain of having to spend all that time waiting for things to be moved. It took me months to move everything to the point where I was happy with it! In some ways I think I regret not tt-ing when it felt like it got too long. I'd say as long as you feel secure that this is something you want to do, TT away!

Ah well in that case, there's no harm in TT-ing to get everything out of the way. I think it's better than sitting around waiting to work on anything, especially if you're the type to lose motivation when putting off the ideas for too long. I would get too antsy myself.

personally I was also trying to avoid time travel but when I decided to move everything to the beaches and start again I did end up time travelling just for convenience's sake, and also because i'm too impatient to wait. I have since then ended up time travelling more frequently but that's just because I did it a lot in NL so it's an old habit! I vote start off without tting (as you're doing now) but if you feel it's more effective to tt then don't be afraid to do it!

Yo, I understand wanting it done faster...

Obviously I'm not here to argue about TT.... it's up to you. I believe you can delete multiple inclines/bridges in a day but idk.

Maybe if you just want it done super fast then tt.

but if you want to live the experience and enjoy the slow process of the changing and really get the feeeeeeeelll of its changes, then don't tt...

On my switch there are parental controls (dbsadabssbai it annoys me lol) and im redoing my island... it's not such a big project as yours, but i've been enjoying the slow process actually. it's super satisfying to see that house you moved plop down right where you wanted it to... :)))

hope this helps ;p

and if you want my opinions on tt: nothing wrong with it. it's just a lil cheat. some people think it takes the 'fun' out of the game, but if it's not FUN then no one would DO IT. ok there's my opinion but i won't argue with anyone :)

honestly it's your game play it the way you want to.. if you want to maintain the integrity of the nook mile stamps I suggest going back 25 days and progress day by day to current. I would also check the stamps just to be sure that it doesnt get out of chronological order.
