Okay so! I finally figured out how to hack acnl (If you don't like hacking, thats fine, we all do this game differently) I'm kinda happy about my town but also not really, I don't have all my dreamies because I lost some of them due to my own mistakes in timetraveling. And I also have some annoying rocks that I still cant figure out how to work around, so - naturally I'm really excited about finally figuring out the right way to hack.
But now I have a whole town with a "design" that I know can make way much better. My dilemma is, I can't figure out if I want to completely strip my map (chop down every tree, remove all bushes, plants and paths) and start again from scratch. OR try to work around what I have which I'm not really that happy with, but I've spent like a year working on...
I'm not sure what to do, I wanna do both but not really... help D: What would you do?
Since you said youre hacking, youre using a save manager and a map editor right?
It would be very easy to just clear everything using the map editor than in-game!
It's really up to what you want to do & how you are most comfortable going about the hacked landscaping process. youll be able to move PWPs around or create a totally different base map altogether. You have almost complete control. Plus you can just save your town as it is right now, and also save an empty (plantless) town, and use either of them as canvases/your starting point, see how comfortable you are with editing either of them. If you dont like doing it one way you can just open up your other save file and go about it the othr way! Just make sure you dont overwrite your base town files.
My town ended up completely different after using a map editor than it was before I hacked.
You'll know when you like it because you'll start wanting to change minor things but you won't want to completely like clear the place out. I'd start over or work through majorly clearing stuff out. Good luck.
Ideas you could put clovers and bamboo in the water where around the bridges and just clovers randomly and bushes and flowers or bushes and bamboo lining most of the water maybe leave some gaps like one in the middle or something and put 2 rare treestumps and maybe place some mushrooms and stuff hehe also you could move stuff around and add pwps with it i think and you can line up the villagers houses but you have to put paths around their houses so u can see where they are. and u can switch out your villagers with it i think so u get all the ones u want if its japanese I would suggest chow the panda or just any panda. Panda ~ bamboo and you could add paths leading to pwps, villagers houses, the town hall, retail, the beach and stuff and you can line the paths with cedar trees, saplings, bushes, flowers , hybrids and clovers and if u want a natural overgrown look I would suggest a few weeds and you could fill your beaches with bamboo and stuff and even add gold roses into the ocean and when u set it as a dream town u could leave a wetsuit on the beach and leave some present around the town for people to use. Im really interested in helping people using R.A.M since I wanna use it myself but I'm only 12 and I feel like taking out my memory card would not be a good idea. But yeah you could move around things like you have to have atleast 2 rocks or something and u have to have 1 pond so you can choose how that would look with retail and that I think you can also choose your town fruit and stuff so I would reccomend cherries or pears with cherries I guess representing cherry blossoms xD
