I recently decided to rebuild my old town. Not reset it, rebuild it. I'm cycling out all of my villagers, and I plan to cycle for a while, until I stop and settle back down.
I feel happy with my desicion, but slightly sad. I'll miss my villagers. I do want them out, but I still love them, and I'll never forget them.
Has anyone else ever decided to redo their town without resetting? Did you just relandscape, or did you completely change it up?

Yep, I've re landscaped and totally cycled out all my old villagers that I already had pics for. In some ways it was really sad but in others it's been so great getting to know new characters and develop parts of my town. I'm happy I did it.

Yeah, it's sad to let the ones you love go, but it's amazing meeting a whole new cast of villagers. I'm probably going to get really sad when it comes to me randomly nicknaming them and saying that I love them (I know it's odd, but ever since I started calling Melba 'my Melbaby' in WW, I've nicknamed a bunch of villagers I love).

Aw that's sweet!! My husband knows all my villagers as my friends because I talk to him whilst I play all the time. Sometimes it confuses him as when they move out I don't always say so he randomly goes "What happened to Peanut?" and I'll respond with "oh she moved out months ago".

I don't know if I could do that! I couldn't give up Merry, Carmen, Grizzly, Octavian, Tucker, Marina, Zucker, Ankha or Flora.... well, myabe Flora, lol. But the rest, I just couldn't do it. I may someday make it over though. You are brave and I admire you :)

I've done this several times over. I usually just change the decoration and theme. It's not a big deal, it gives me something to work for when I start up the game and it keeps the game feeling new.

If you're unsure about your villagers, you can keep them for a while longer or try to find someone to adopt them. You don't have to get your 10 dream villagers straight away, it's fine to take your time to get to know others too.

I have been doing similar things. Not starting over but changing the town around and cycling out some villagers to get new ones. I have had some of the villagers since the game started and I thought maybe getting some new ones might liven things up a bit.

I re-landscaped and moved pwps around and stuff but I didn't cycle out villagers. I have two that I want to move, but the rest of them I plan on keeping since I'd be sad to see them go. The villagers I liked are what made the game for me and it's simpler to do the landscaping again than it is to cycle through 16 villagers just to get back the one I chose to let go.

I am not sure why I wanted to replace some villagers. I guess I wanted some changes. I actually like my villagers, but I thought it might be fun to have some different ones. I have never done the "dreamie" thing. I like most villagers. The difficulty is I am not really cycling, just letting certain ones go when they ask, and looking for replacements. So it takes time.

There was this one time where I resetted my town and missed my old one so bad that i stopped playing for weeks and then became years, but that was with thr acww and for the acnl I haven't resetted yet, I hope I don't have too xD

I am planning on doing this to one of my towns. There are two towns that don't feel quite right and I don't have a specific theme for them. I haven't played since Halloween on any of my towns because I'm still trying to figure out what I want to do, and what villagers I want when I start cycling.

It sure is easier to just reset - but in these two towns I have come so far I just can't bear to reset.

It is a bittersweet decision - but a mature, thoughtful one. You have had your wonderful moments with these villagers.
Now you can feel it is the time to start making new friends.

Absolutely good luck to you!
