My brother has a severe intellectual disability and Autism. He has no understanding of language, a love of smooth plastic, a history of breaking hinged items and no understanding of the need to be careful with things.
This means I don't want him in the same town as my 3DS. But because we cannot talk on the phone or email each other because of the communication barrier, I try to visit regularly and spend lots of holidays at home. I did consider bringing it home and only taking it out when he wasn't there, but I felt the risk of him finding it or me carelessly leaving it around the house was too high. So when I go to visit him I don't take my 3DS.
Last Christmas I just got out of the habit of playing ANCL while I was visiting and didn't pick it up when I came home because I was finding Skyrim more interesting to play. Occasionally I take unplanned breaks because I'm finding something else more interesting.
I haven't played "Animal Crossing: New Leaf" since September 23, two days prior to the United States release of "Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer."
I noted, on Post-Its, the town dates for each of my four "New Leaf" cartridges for when I may return to play any of the towns. It's my way of preventing beloved villagers from moving out.
I am now into "Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer" because it is stimulating, challenging, and fun. The more deeply you get into that game, the more tools one has in being creative.
I stopped playing when Pokemon X and Y came out. I ended up giving away my game (so it was 2 years since I've played). I bought a new copy of ACNL last week & have been playing again. There are days when I play for just a few minutes and then days when I play a few hours. Just depends on what I'm working on in my town.
I've completely forgot about AC:NL on many occasions. I'm a big PC gamer as well, so I'm often distracted by my computer which gets in the way of playing games on my 3DS.
I just recently remembered about ACNL yesterday...my town was a mess. I'm cleaning all my stuff and will probably hire someone to landscape my town! I was lucky enough to only take a 2 month break or so, so my house is cockroach-free..
Work mostly. Also I burnt myself out on New Leaf once it came out.
Then I completed everything but my big encyclopaedia and it was going to be almost a year until that bug got back into season for me to catch it. I don't TT. (Two years it took for me to get the house centipede. Two years. I caught it last night).
Then I landscaped my town to how I wanted it so there was so need to unlock new PWPs. And I got my house done exactly as I wanted it.
And the lack of different holidays. As annoying as it was I loved flea market day in my WW town. And the Hybrid/Flower Festival. It kept me wanting to play. I guess I feel like they were more frequent.
I've just restarted again as I've been playing HHD so it rekindled my interest. I'm literally playing about 10 mins of NL every day. My new thing is to get all my badges. And then get Katrina on my Main Street - cause she's the last building I have left to build. And trying to get all the villager pictures. I reckon that'll keep me busy for a while.
One of the things I Love about the game is everyone can play it their own way but you do have to self-motivate yourself to play sometimes and that's ok too.
Couldn't find time to play the game, so took a long break from it AGAIN, picked it back up today and restarted my town, and hoping to stick it out this time
