I just wanted to see if anyone else had experienced something like this. I had a real life friend come visit my town and he brought me a gift. It was a piece of furniture that I am not fond of. Now I feel obligated to keep it and display it when he comes to visit again. But I don't really want it! It's like getting that ugly sweater from your Grandma and only wearing it when she comes to visit, lol.

I totally know what you mean ha. A lot of the time my boyfriend will buy me dresses, they are usually really cute but I prefer to wear QR code designs. I feel bad if I don't wear it in front of him haha.

When someone gives you a gift, you are obligated to do what you feel with it. If you don't like it, you should sell it. It is yours to do with what you wish and a gift giver should know that.

One of my roommates told me to give back a videogame to another one.

The guy of the game gave me 40 bucks, and my roommate gave me a 'hippie' tee.

You can always say you sold it by mistake. Or just put it out when you know they're going to visit?

I like the idea of giving it to a villager. That way I don't have to display it in my house, but it is still around.

My friend and I exchange/gift stuff all the time, but half the time we never wear/display them or only do for a short amount of time.

Generally the most important thing for us is cataloguing whatever for possible future use :P
