Sorry if this is in wrong place this is my first time. Ok here's my problem I've been using the campsite method to get Raymond I have no smugs on my island and at least 1 of every other personality. I have been doing this for 4 days straight now and rather than give me Raymond it is repeating smug villagers what am I doing wrong should I keep going or give it up as a dead loss?

If you've been at it for 4 days, I'd stick with it as that's a lot of time already invested to walk away empty handed....
Not sure why you are getting repeats as many who do the campsite trick report they didn't get any duplicates...

You're getting repeats? I've never heard of that with people doing the campsite method.
Neither had I until it happened to me! I'm starting to think Raymond doesn't exist!

if you want motivation, i was doing this just yesterday too. i wasn't looking for him specifically, but for the new villagers without amiibo. i did it for an hour or so the night before and fell asleep as i didn't have enough success. i woke up the next day and did it while having breakfast, i was starting to get frustrated because of the plenty of flowers growing and bulk of letters that i decided to stop. i found him on that day i was clearing the letters, with the intention of stopping the time traveling. the day was also may 5th on the game too, so coincidentally i don't have to tt anymore. i feel like it'll be a waste of effort if you give up now, i hope you find him!

hahahah true, but i mean you know, with this method there's a pool of villagers. and once you encounter more the more chance you'll see him as the rest won't appear anymore. might not meet him now, but will definitely see him in the future. still helped because of this method.

I would keep trying with the campsite method. It took me about 2 hours to get him through the campsite and tbh I think its much better than wasting NMTs considering it's less than a 1% chance of getting him through island hopping.
I think I'm already insane and now I have added Marshal as a repeat that one hurts.Keep at it for as long as your sanity will allow
