So Wednesday zell asked to move and I decided to let him. So yesterday (Thursday) he would’ve been in boxes. (I honestly forgot to make sure because I was distracted by pumpkins). I was busy most of the day so just now I went on remembering that I need to go villager hunting. I get to the first island and it’s empty. So I go back to my island and check the plot and there’s a sold sign and apparently some jock monkey named Flip is moving in. Ugh. I already have Tank. I’m annoyed that I didn’t get enough time to go invite someone.
Oh no! I’ve never heard of that happening before. I’m so sorry the only explanation I can think of is maybe you accidentally TTing ahead an extra day, but it sounds like you didn’t do that. Do you have any amiibo cards so you can kick Flip out?
Usually villagers move in a day after someone leaves. The window might be a little more open then that but usually it’s 24 hours.
It could be potentially from someone’s void or depending if the person moved out when the update came through, it might have automatically filled it.
I had it with fauna who I found and invited. Then the update for star trees came through and the next She was out of boxes and roaming. Without spending a day unpacking.
Honestly, villager management is still the undisputed "worst" feature of Animal Crossing for me. I really don't like the "void" system or people randomly moving in to your island without consent. I do understand the design concept of why Nintendo still retained this. However, I wish they would give us more flexible options to control villager movement.
It would have to be a voided villager from someone else's island. But to be honest, this is still hit and miss too. I've had a couple friends come to my island recently, and I've been to theirs as well. Julia moved out - she was in boxes yesterday. But today when I looked, the plot wasn't sold yet, thankfully. So I went island hopping, and on the second island decided to take Erik. It'll be nice having him for Christmas. And I will make sure he's around for that, I don't care if I have to tell him NO DON'T MOVE AWAY if he suddenly decides he wants to come November or something.
On the other side of things, I once decided to let a random villager move in after somebody moved out. It took FOUR DAYS for the plot to finally be claimed by a random villager. I thought you only had the first day to try filling it yourself, and then the second day it would be claimed. But apparently that's not how it'll necessarily work. I found that a little surprising.
I primarily only visit my husbands island and he’s never had flip. I’ve only had a couple visitors from here. So he could be from one of their islands. But I still don’t understand why the game decided to fill the spot without letting me have a chance to fill it first
I hate how fast the plot fills up, was lucky though that my new villager i was planning on was an amiibo card i just got. so goodbye kidd, hello phoebe
Flip was one of my starters and not all that bad, liked him well enough, even though he was a monkey and i generally dont like those
Happened to me twice. A day after the plot opened a villager moved in. I dread island hopping so I usually put it off until it’s too late. Luckily they never ended up being a 3rd villager of the same personality. But Octavian arrived with a hideous outfit on, so that was annoying.
