...Why is every friggin' band from Massachusetts, and, more specific, from Boston always PUNK-BASED/INFLUENCED?!?!....seriously! There are no heavy metal bands from here(other than Armory and Ravage, as far as I know), no psychedelic rock bands, no trip-hop, no indie, no jam, no progressive rock, no...WHATEVER! It's always some punk or hardcore or screamo/emo or metalcore or deathcore(god forbid it doesn't have -"core" in it) or whatever band. God forbid there's a popular band that comes from here that's pure heavy/thrash/death/etc. metal or some other (sub)genre of rock that isn't punk-influenced. Sorry for the childish rant, but I went through high school as a metal head and I was surrounded by scene kids, punk rockers, nu metallers, emos, etc. Not many people I knew(if any) that liked stuff like Motorhead, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Gamma Ray, HammerFall, Kreator, etc. and if they did like metal is was limited to metalcore/deathcore and Metallica(so typical) and all their highly overrated post-black album s**t!!

Sorry, but this a a rant LOOOOOONG overdue!! I KNOW it's childish, I KNOW it's stupid, but, all the same...it had to happen. Anyways I'm faaaaar more open-minded of music than what I used to be, there are actually quite a lot of punk and metalcore bands I like now, I just don't care for the poppier stuff(Sum 41, New Found Glory, etc.), still not too huge on hardcore(but slowly getting into it) and am checking out more metalcore/deathcore bands(Between the Buried and Me and Born of Osiris = awesomesauce!). hell, I'm even starting to check out nu metal bands like Korn, P.O.D., Linkin Park and stuff...(*gasp*)

To be frank the only music I find truly abysmal now, is stuff like Nickelback or Theory of a Deadman or whatever, idk, I just never cared for the post-grunge/alternative rock stuff.....but HEY! Even that may change....my music journey is ever-going...one man's noise today is another man's music tomorrow. Procrastinated vent over.

You're on an Animal Crossing forum, I wouldn't worry about anything being childish.

But seriously unless you're confined to live shows or something, there's a ton of music scenes outside of Boston.

Because punk was the last real watershed in rock music.

In other words the only subgenre that keeps it underground..?

Keeps what underground? Keeps rock underground? Or do you mean it's the only subgenre that emphasizes underground vs. mainstream music?

I'm not sure, what did you mean exactly? When you said the last watershed in rock music?

Just... an important change. Not so much sonically, but it was the beginning of the idea of "independent music" being created and sustained against the so-called "mainstream".
