It can be buried anywhere, but if you want to use it effectively, I suggest putting buy flowers you want to breed or native trees which you want to produce perfect fruit.

how close to you have to put it next to trees? I have tried it with 5 trees and so far nothing...I put it right next to them or right in front, should there be a space? Or do my trees just not want to make perfect fruit?
(to clarify I use it only by trees with my native fruit and I tried shaking the fruit off the tree and leaving it on...nothing works)

Put it right next to the tree. Every time it sprouts fruit, shake it off as it is not possible for a regular fruit to suddenly turn perfect while being on a tree. Also, you may want to try planting your native fruit and planting fertilizer next to it each day as it grows.
ok, I did try that but so far nothing...will keep trying
