Can you play two copies of acnl on one ds or does it have to be on different ones?

It can be on the same 3DS. You just can't connect the two.

Yes, you can play as many physical copies as you want on one 3ds.

You can have only one digital copies and an infinite number of physical ones.

You can only have one game cartridge in at a time, but I believe all the saved data is saved to the cartridges themselves. (Might want to wait for someone else to confirm, though. lol) So, you should be able to switch out games without any issue. The time and date will still be based on the DS, though.

I would be getting another physical copy, might be better to use my sons ds incase i wanna trade between the two thanks everyone
