I haven't spent a lot of money making my town look good. I use tiles, hybrids, landscaping to make my town look nice.

For some reason, I don't care about my house. It looks terrible, because I was going for a high HRA score, so I had all kinds of stuff lying about.

Landscaping, right on.

However, I have spent a good 5 million on my town. That's including expenses on the extra bridge and fountain, flowers, fruit, trees, tools, furniture for my house, clothes, accessories, and hairstyles.

So maybe it's closer to 2.5 million (give or take) on my town with the rest being spent on me and my house. p:

(I recently started again, though). It's been less than a month since I've started playing again.
