Quick 10th Villager Question

My 10th villager is in boxes, and I want to adopt a new villager to replace him. Can I travel to another town to ask my new villager to move in, while the 10th is still in boxes? Or do I need him to move completly out first? I'm afraid to go to the next day in case someone else fills my 10th slot before I get my dreamie.

I think they have to properly move out first. No one will move in immediately the next day anyways (I think)

Thanks, I'm gonna make a new character to be safe and check for a plot before start it up for real.

You don't need to worry about a 10th villager moving in c: When you get to 9 villagers, you have to get your 10th by either adopting him/her or getting them from void or campsite. You should be okay!
