Alright, first of all this is my first time really doing these sort of things?including moderate to heavy hosting/visiting?mostly because I don't have any ACNL friends that in real life. In addition, the few people I do know irl?or from other sources?are usually busy and/or don't want to play online. Anyways, I have few questions about how things work and how to place things around.

1) Where is a good place to try to put a forest and/or plant trees ? fruit or otherwise?
*****NOTE: I'm currently deforesting my town in prep for this
2) How do you give/take/trade/cycle/etc villages
*****NOTE: Just one 3DS system.
3) How do you control where you get new villages
4) Any 'must get' or 'must avoid' PWP for a respectable to perfect town
*****NOTE: Originally didn't care, since I never/rarely went online
5) Is there such a thing as TOO many of one type/color of a flower?
*****Regardless of the answer, is there general rule of thumb to consider
6) Any tips of the trade to offer a novice online-user.

Below is my map, if you wish to take a look at it, with plans and notes:

Thanks in advance!

1) Where is a good place to try to put a forest and/or plant trees — fruit or otherwise?
For your map I'd say maybe along the left hand side where you have lots of space. You could also do across the top left part of the river below the fountain, almost like a border.

2) How do you give/take/trade/cycle/etc villages
When a villager is moving out of your/someone's town, they are considered 'in boxes' when you go inside and see all their stuff packed. If you wish to adopt someone, you go to someone's town (or they go to yours) and speak to the villager that day and ask them to move into your town. Cycling is playing your game in a way (usually by time traveling) to move villagers in and out faster.

3) How do you control where you get new villages
The only way you can control the space is by plot resetting, otherwise it's random.

4) Any 'must get' or 'must avoid' PWP for a respectable to perfect town
From what I've read any of the illuminated pwps affect your town rating but I'm not 100%

5) Is there such a thing as TOO many of one type/color of a flower?
It's all kind of up to opinion. Some people like random colors and types everywhere, some people prefer all one color or type.

6) Any tips of the trade to offer a novice online-user.
I'd say just play how you want and work on making your town how you want it to look without trying too hard to fuss on making it perfect. It's just how I feel, but I find that AC is supposed to be a game where you take time and build up slowly and is supposed to help you de-stress. I've found I enjoy the game less when I'm stressing about making it perfect and 'why is it not as good as this persons town' and all. As long as you enjoy how you play though, that's really what I think is important.

1) Where is a good place to try to put a forest and/or plant trees — fruit or otherwise?

For your map, the left hand side or maybe a small one in front of the train station. I would put a fruit forest on the left and a cedar forest in front of the train station. IMO, cedar forests are better looking and you don't have much space there especially since the police station is going there. But don't let that bother you. Do what works for you.

2) How do you give/take/trade/cycle/etc villages
To give a villager, they need to packing up their stuff into boxes. Then you invite someone from a different town over and they talk to them and convince them to move. It's very simple. To take a villager...well same thing just your going over to someone's town. To trade is complicated. You have to an agreement with someone that you will give them this villager in exchange for another. And somehow you both are going to have to have space for the villager when the villager tries to leave. It's all very complicated really and probably only works best for time travelers. To cycle is to give out villagers to people on this forum. A cycle town is another copy that people have where they just time travel constantly to give out the villagers in their town to people. It's a very fast process, usually and very helpful for people to get their dreamies. I don't think you can properly cycle without a second copy.

3) How do you control where you get new villages
I'm gonna explain plot resetting to you. You need a to create a new character. It's very important to NOT load your mayor or any other character until this process is over. DON'T! Create the new character and once your off the train, go looking for a new house plot. When you find it, determine if it's in a good spot and if you like the villager moving in. If no to either, turn it off WITHOUT saving. And repeat. Keep doing this until you like the spot and the villager. And don't ever load your mayor/other characters until you are done. Once you are satisfied, place the new characters house wherever and save and you are good to go.
4) Any 'must get' or 'must avoid' PWP for a respectable to perfect town?
There are some projects like the drilling rig and the illuminated projects that negatively affect perfect town status. I would say get perfect town status first and get many jacob ladders/golden watering can before constructing any of these projects. But you can always get jacob ladders from the forum if you have the bells to pay for them.

5) Is there such a thing as TOO many of one type/color of a flower?
I don't know. Not really. If you just want one type/color of flower, just go for it.

6) Any tips of the trade to offer a novice online-user.
I struggle with this myself, but don't get discouraged when you see how cool someone else's town is and start hating your town and wanting to reset. Because trust me, you will always feel like this no matter how many times you reset. You just gotta learn to love your town and make it the best as you can. Unless you absolutely want to reset which is fine. But resetting constantly gets sad after a while.

1) Where is a good place to try to put a forest and/or plant trees — fruit or otherwise?
Well the pines wont grow on the south part of your town so I like putting a lot of them up north cause I love how they look. I try to get an even number of fruit, non-fruit, and pine trees and try to do a sort of pattern with them to get them in an even pattern maybe something like this..?
F-fruit
P-Pine
N-Normal
E-Empty

FEPEF
ENENE
PEFEP

2) How do you give/take/trade/cycle/etc villages
It's a lot of work and there are a lot of good guides showing different numbers of days to travel and what to do in between to guarantee you don't lose villagers you want and get the right ones to ask to leave. Here is just one example, but there are a lot of different ways to do it.

3) How do you control where you get new villages
Plot-resetting is a trick a lot of people use to get their villagers in the perfect places, and it just requires you make a new save file the day you know someone is coming, do not log on to your mayor because then the plot will be permanent, just make a dummy second save file, find the plot in your town and if you don't like it, shut off your game, do not save, just shut off and try again. If you like the plot then save under the new character (you can demo it later) and the plot will stay where it was.

4) Any 'must get' or 'must avoid' PWP for a respectable to perfect town
Really it depends on the theme of your town there are a lot of popular ones, most people always get the Cafe, Police Station and the other permanent fixtures, but honestly I don't think every town needs everyone of them. I love the simple things like benches and street lights and sacrificed a lot of PWP's to get a lot of them in my town.

5) Is there such a thing as TOO many of one type/color of a flower?
Not at all. I have seen full towns of just one kind of flower, it's all preference, I think it's nicer having a variety but once again it's a matter of theme. If you had a gold themed town and had all gold roses who would blame you? Just like any other color or theme, there is no such thing as too much.

6) Any tips of the trade to offer a novice online-user.
Make lots of friends! I love having people I know and trust on this site, and it helps a lot having people to come to for things and being able to help them back. Don't feel like its cheating to buy things from people on here, I thought that for a long time thinking that it wasn't really working for it if I didn't wait the time for each things to show up in my town, but there were things that even after playing for like a year I haven't even seen in my town, so it doesn't make you any less to buy things, even villagers. Play the game as you see fit, you don't have to do anything a certain way, there are hardly any rules in the game and there is really no "winning" the game, so do it how you want to do it!

Okay, thanks for the advice. However, to make sure I understand correctly on plot resetting, I want to

1) Start up with a randomly made character
2) Hunt for a new plot
3a) None: exist just quit and use mayor
3b) Yes (bad): Redo 1 & 2
2c) Yes (good): Follow new player start up until autosave then delete, if desired.

1) Where is a good place to try to put a forest and/or plant trees ? fruit or otherwise?
*****NOTE: I'm currently deforesting my town in prep for this

Unless you're plot resetting, you should remember that villagers can move on top of your trees so placing them near houses and PWPs is ideal, along with scattering some fruit trees around your town in case you lose most of yours. You should also remember that you need some space between trees.

If you're plot resetting, just pick whatever location will look nice and has enough space for an orchard or forest the size you want.

2) How do you give/take/trade/cycle/etc villages
*****NOTE: Just one 3DS system.

If you have only one 3DS system and one copy of the game, you can't trade with yourself but you can still trade with other people.

When a human player visits a villager who is in boxes in another town (on the day before they move, villagers are "in boxes" because they have all their furniture packed up into boxes), if they have room for another villager in their own town and didn't have that villager within their last 16 villagers to move out, they can invite that villager into their own town.

To get a villager, you visit the town of someone who is giving out a villager they have and invite that villager to your town. To give someone a villager, you let that person go into your town and invite their villager into theirs.

Cycling is basically moving out villagers very fast. If you only have one copy of the game and seeing as you're new to it, I don't recommend it and don't think you should do it. People often have special cycle towns to get their dream villagers more quickly or cycle in their own town if they accidentally lose a villager (since they need to go through 16 before they can invite that villager back). If you only have one town and one 3DS, it's easier to get the villagers you want by trading instead.

3) How do you control where you get new villages

People do this by plot resetting, search a bit and you'll find lots of guides. Basically, on the day when you're getting a new villager, start as a new playable character and walk around your town to search for a plot. If the plot is where you want it to be, go to the town hall and set up a house and save (you can delete that character later). If it's in a bad spot, quit without saving and try again.

4) Any 'must get' or 'must avoid' PWP for a respectable to perfect town
*****NOTE: Originally didn't care, since I never/rarely went online

No, the only PWPs you should get are the ones you like and want to have in your town. Some PWPs count against your perfect town rating so if you want to achieve that in your game, I would wait until later.

I'd say that the "must gets" are the campsite and the cafe, but if you don't plan on using them or don't care, you don't have to.

5) Is there such a thing as TOO many of one type/color of a flower?
*****Regardless of the answer, is there general rule of thumb to consider

No, there isn't, just whatever you think looks bad in your town. Some people decorate their towns using only one or two types of flowers and others mix it up more.

6) Any tips of the trade to offer a novice online-user.

Don't be afraid to ask questions and don't stress out so much over getting a town that is just perfect. Other than things that are harder to fix (like house locations), most things you can change later. Visit dream towns a lot too if you can, they might give you some ideas for what you can do in your town.

Yes. You got it.
