I'm planning to reset my town (the decision has already been 'approved' by the humans in the game, lol) so I have some questions for those people who have actually done it before.
I understand that if you're moving into another game some things save, but if you aren't does anything save when resetting? If so, then what are those things? If not, then what do I need to keep at a friends town? Do you simply go in your main menu and ask Isabelle to reset, or is there a different way to do that?

Ah okay, When you reset you click on your name and when Isabelle asks if your ready to go into your game.. say you need help with something they'll be four options Set date/time (Change Day and Time) Demolish my Home (Gets rid of the Selected Villager) Re-create the town (This is the one you want) and Never mind.. Click Re-Create the town.. this completely deletes your File.. it'll be pretty much exactly like when you bought the game.. nothing stays the same.
You can post a thread in the train station asking for someone to hold items for you, such as bells or hybrids or unorderables.
Just look for a wifi rating of 30 or higher, maybe offer to pay a million bells or 100 tbt?
Then you can dump your items on someone's beach, reset, and then go back to claim your items.
If you know you'll be spending a long time choosing a map, be honest upfront and let the other person know that you'll just pm them for your stuff so they aren't waiting forever
