Questions about having a second town

So. I'm thinking about starting a cycling town but I just want to make sure that I know what I'm doing haha. From what I've read it is possible to have a digital and a physical version of the game on the same consol, as long as you use two different SD-cards. Is this correct? And the only problem could be the DLC. But since I'm using one town only for cycling villagers this shouldn't be a problem for me, right?

Is there something else I should think about?

Hihi, yes you can have a digital and physical copy on the same 3DS; you don't need two SD cards though. The physical copy saves on the cartridge itself not onto the SD card.
