Questions about fleas on villagers

I'd like to know if when villagers have fleas it eventually goes away even if you don't catch them?
And can more than one villager at the time have flease?

I'm toying with the idea of making a town (on another copy) with only dogs and wolves called "junkyard" and making it look like, well, a junkyard. XD Inhabited with strays.
It would be AWESOME if they could all have fleas but I don't know if it's possible.

I think the fleas disappear after a while, and I've never encountered more than one villager who has fleas unfortunately But the town would still look awesome!

Fleas disappear when you save and quit.
