So, a few questions here; mainly about cycling but I also have a few about plot resetting.

~CYCLING~

  • Do I need to have 8 villagers in my villagers in order to start the cycling process or can I have 9 in my town?
  • Does cycling work when getting villagers from other people/the campsite or do they need to be random move-ins?
  • Can I force people to move out by ignoring them, being mean, etc., or do I need to wait stuff out?
  • How long does cycling usually take without TTing?

~PLOT RESETTING~

  • Can plot resetting corrupt your town? If so, how can I avoid it happening?
  • Is there a way I can ensure a house to go in a certain place by putting PWP's everywhere?

Thank you to anyone who helps me!

- to cycle you need 9 villagers, unless you're looking to start with a random move in. i'm pretty sure villagers don't leave your town if there's only 8 of them there.

- somebody tested out inviting a new villager in town while cycling (either through campsite or adoption), and it's alright as long as there's room and doesn't conflict with another move in.

- nope, generally doesn't work. the closer you are to villagers, the more likely they are to move out. and ignoring them (esp after you've spoken to them at least a couple of times) will make them more likely to stay (i.e., if they ping you to move they'll suddenly change their minds because they want to get to know you more)

- you can't really cycle without tt-ing though? or well, if you're referring to the process by which villagers will come and go inside your town then it's going to take awhile without it. unlike cycling with specific dates (by time traveling), you don't have a guarantee that villagers will move out or in when you "want" them to.

there are also methods of cycling which let you "choose" which villagers move out (if you're looking to move out some villager you really dislike), but it requires more legwork than ones that guarantee a boxed villager already no matter who it is. all the methods though, involve some degree of time traveling. :c

- as for plot-resetting, no, it does not corrupt your town (at least not that i know of?) i've never really tried it but i know people sometimes spend hours and days just trying to get a good spot for villager houses, the only incident associated to plot resetting that i've heard so far is accidentally saving when the plot is in the wrong spot lol

and yeah, there is! having more pwps in town (and in certain places) can influence where house plots might spawn, as long as there's space for it, there's a chance it'll go there. also, new villagers will sometimes place their houses over a past villager's area, if it's still possible. not always though o/

hope this helped!

Thank you very much, this did help! Okay, well, personally, I don't care how long this whole process takes as long as I can get the villager that left back~ I might have to put more PWP's in then! I already have quite a lot put in place where people can't move in, but there is a specific place I want to keep the houses just to keep down the amount of erosion that would happen due to cycling :/

ohhhh a villager left? so then you're referring to the 16 villager cycle? that's gonna take... a lot of time without tt-ing then ; v ; you won't be able to invite them in your town again until they stop showing up in main street but ahhh good luck!! and i'm glad i was able to help ^^

Yeah, the 16 villager cycle! So I've heard :/ But, I'm a patient person so I'll wait as long as I need to ^^ Obviously if something happens to the person holding my villager then I'll have to deal, but hopefully it'll be okay!

hmm... I've read that plot resetting does give a risk of corrupting data... since it would be continuous powering on-off your DS/the game.... but I think it only very rarely happens though. I mean, a lot of users plot reset a lot but stories of corrupted data are rarely heard about sooooo yep

Well, I wouldn't be turning my game on and off, I'd just be going to the home menu and turning if off that way so maybe that would help? Not sure...
