Do you they ship you the game disk in the mail or does it create a short-cut to the game with out a disk?

Nope. You download it straight to your computer and just enjoy the game.

what happens if you have to reformat your computer and you lose all you data do you get to re download it for free or pay again

Yes. All the games are saved on to your steam account. IF you delete your account everything gets deleted. But if you delete stuff from your computer then you can just re download it. I once had to re download everything single thing over, but all my games were still on my account. Don't worry. Everything works out.

Tf2 with gmod might be worth it if your getting hl2 to. If you get tf2 with just gmod then you won't have much to work with in gmod. Hl2 gives out most items and things in gmod. Btw I have tf2, gmod, hl1, hl2, hl blueshift, hl opposing force, ricochet, counter strike classic, tf classic. I got a bunch but I didn't download most. I got half of them for free cause i had the original disc for hl1 and it was supposed to be a special thing or something because if you register the number that the cd came with then you get alot of old but kool games What's your steam account?

But yeah, Steam deliver it's game through digital downloads, and whenever you login into that steam account on another computer, the games will begin to download if they aren't already installed on that comp.

Why would you want to copy it to a disk? Because you can't. Steam games automatically download on whatever computer you login on.

If you buy games that are sold on Steam in a store, you can register them to work with Steam by entering the product code. Once registered with Steam, you won't need to use the CD anymore, and you can just run them through Steam.
