That usually is a sign that you ACNL copy (Most likely digital I assume?) Is having issues.

And unfortunately sometimes it means your town is going corrupt if it doesn't change :(

Ahh how can I fix it? It's not a digital copy.

Probably the card is having issues. Like I said its not your fault but there may be a glitch and glitches like pitch black areas in houses and pitch black peices in town or in flowers is kinda an unsolvable glitch. It could lead to corruption

I say there really isn't a way to avoid it. Sometimes towns go corrupt. I haven't had this issue, but I certainly hope that doesn't happen to you! Good luck! <3

You could try buying the digital version and transferring your town to it. There's a save-file transfer utility on the eShop that does it.

Wow I have to admit, that looks really cool though *-*

I'd try taking the cartridge out and cleaning it? In case there is any dust, my suspicion.
And maybe try turning your 3DS off then on again?

If my cartridge did that, I could not afford to get a digital version...$80 on eShop rip

It could be a few things. Its either caused by something in-between the cart and the 3DS (common case), the cart itself (common case), the 3DS itself, or its the save file. Clean both the 3DS, and the cart first. If the problem still appears try putting the cart on another 3DS (if possible), if the problem still appears its either the cart or the save file (if the problem doesn't appear, its the 3DS you previously used, it can happen). Perhaps buying the digital version and transferring the file. If the problem still appear... its the save file. IF its the save file, it can't be fixed unless your lucky.

However I doubt its the save file. Most of the time its either a dirty cart, dirty 3DS cartridge input, or a scratched cart. I rarely see this with a digital version. It's mostly the carts that get this.

....
You can get some pretty crazy stuff.
