Update: It was kinda obvious from the lack of comments that no one seems to know the answer to this one. Well I decided to give it a try and it turns out that once the resident has moved over to new the save file, each time you reset and boot up the game the game takes you to the train where you can restart the process with Rover. So it is possible keep resetting to generate new map options - Just thought people might want to know this information in the future!

I have a question. I bought a new cartridge yesterday and today I am starting a new town. I just found out about the option to move a resident from another town to a new save file - and I want to do this to make the transferring of bells and items process quicker and easier from my old town.
My question is this: once I have completed the resident transfer with Isabelle, if I wanted to keep resetting the 3DS to generate new map options, what will happen?
I don't want to risk ruining things for myself - so I was wondering if anyone has ever done this before, and could give me some advice?
