Question involving villagers.

So a villager that I previously had in my town (Chester), I want to get back.

Someone offered him to me as he's moving. I was wondering if you are able to convince villagers that you previously had to move back to your town? Or do they forget when you ask them when they are in boxes and move to your town anyway? Or do they refuse?

You can't get him back until you've had 16 other villagers move out of your town. :c

Will the villager that came back act the same way or will it have amnesia and not know you?

Will know you if its the same villager that left your town
otherwise it will just be a new default copy of that villager

wait, it's 16? I read that it was 5 -- 5 villagers that had to leave before any old ones could return.
