Question: Does this actually make a villager move out?

I've read that if a villager moves in and they are unwanted, to simply introduce yourself to them and then never talk to them again and they will move out somewhat quickly... Is this true? If this is true do you only have to talk to them once with your mayor character? Or all characters?

Clyde just moved into my town very unexpectedly and I want him out asap. :(

It's never worked for me. I think I read something about how on New Leaf, villagers you have a better relationship will want to move out first. I'm not 100% sure about either of those, though! I know an absolutely certain way of kicking a villager out is by using an Amiibo card, so maybe that's something you could look into.

I just read that completely ignoring them can make them move out. I think I'm going to try that, hopefully it works lol

Ignoring unwanted villagers has never worked for me. Talking to them once or twice every day should be enough for them to comfortably ask to move. But if they are your 10th villager then it will be much more difficult. :S Good luck.

Yeah amiibo complete ignores villager cycle so it's nice. However I've noticed my amiibo villagers never ping me to move..

This is how it worked for me. One time I did a mistake while TTing and got a house plot. I let him move in, but I don't remember if I talked to him or not, but here's the thing since I had another open slot for a villager to move in I invited someone that I adopted, it was probably Beau. Because I was doing a lot of TTing, the villager I didn't want ended up pinging me and he moved out and he didn't even stay in my town for 24 hrs.

Since he's your 10th villager and probably you got him from someone's void. It's going to be extremely hard. My 10th villagers Marina and Fang in my other town never ping me to move out. NOT EVEN ONCE, NEVER! They've been in my town for years and nothing. To get rid of him you will have to move out someone previously before him so he will ping you to move. I don't know if it has been the same for others, but hopefully someone with this experience might be able to help you out.

I've been trying to get rid of Winnie, Charlise & Peck so hopefully one of them moves out soon :(

Good luck, just befriend them so they can move out faster.

not really i always talk to them because the villagers i talk too most always wanna move out lol and it worked 100% for me

Didn't work with Phoebe. I ignored her, she asked if i was fine with her moving (I was more than fine with that,) but she decided that we weren't close enough so she had to stay. The next day Marshal (who I only adopted a few days prior and talked to on a normal basis,) pinged to move!

amiibo him out if you can - 10th villagers are really hard to get to leave. i've tt'd a lot and had many animals come and go, and in all my hours only had the 10th ask twice to leave. so like less than 1% chance in my cycling experince. if he drops to 9th becausd someone else leaves it can be easier. there's always a chance they stay a plague in your town 5eva, though. ):

Honestly just be good friends with them and do everything they ask and then they should leave

It didn't work for me personally, but then again, this villager had been my 10th, and the 10th is nearly impossible to move out anyway.

I read somewhere that if you talk to the villager until they are thinking, then tt and they will ping to move. I haven't tried this but it never hurts(:

Before the update, at least, it was established that move-outs were random.
If you don't talk to a villager at all, then they will just never ping you... but that doesn't mean that they are more or less likely to move out. They will still move out regardless.
Not sure if anything has been changed though with the latest update.

bah it sucks when you get an unwanted 10th villager. it's best to just befriend them and then move another villager out first. he should ping to move afterwards if you TT around for a bit.
