I got a golden fishing rod from a friend, but I don't know if I learn it will I still get a seperate diy when I catch all fishes or will it count as already getting one?

You will, you'll get a letter with the diy in your mailbox the next day. I also had a golden fishing rod that I was given before competing my fish collection and that was how it worked for me
