This morning I started up my game to find that Deirdre had set up a plot right where my 10th villager used to live. I know for a fact that she moved in from a friend's void. My question is, if I had attempted a plot reset before loading up my mayor, would there have been a chance of someone else moving in? Or do villagers from a friend's void take priority? I already have two deer villagers and am wondering if things could've turned out differently, haha. Thanks!

I am almost positive a random villager would not have moved in and that the Deidre would be the priority. However, I believe if you had used an amiibo reader and villager card, that villager would have voided Deirdre and taken her place. Pretty sure.

Thanks for the info! I thought that might be the case. I'll let her hang around for the time being and see if she eventually grows on me. :)

This happened to me (with Deirdre too, what are the odds), and I learned that the priority goes to the last ""invite"". So if you invite someone (like I did) but afterwards have a friend over and they have a villager in their void, the voided villager will plot because they're the last "invite" (I didn't invite her, game!)
If the opposite happens, you have 9 villagers, have a friend over but before 6 am comes go to other town and invite someone, this will be the villager who plots, as they're the last invite.

Amiibos break all these laws though.

Thanks for the confirmation! I generally don't travel much out of my town, but the one friend I regularly play with has already given me two accidental villagers so I'm thinking I should be a bit more careful, lol.

After that event, I decided I wouldn't travel or open gates ever again when I had 9 villagers. Only with a full town it's safe to go online, unless you're going somewhere to adopt your 10th, of course. :)
